Everyone has a city in their heart. When you walk past every street corner, you can't help but imagine what it looked like when you passed by it. Whether it is nostalgia, fashion, or code, it will become the memory of that city deeply rooted in your mind.
The setting sun and the lone wild goose fly together, and the autumn water and the sky are the same color. This is the poet Wang Bo's first impression of Nanchang. As a well-known business card of Nanchang tourism, Tengwang Pavilion has attracted many tourists. However, when you really walk into Nanchang, you will find that its charm is far more than that.

In the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall, the glorious years that were recorded in history textbooks are vividly remembered, the military flag on the August 1st Square is immortal, and the Jiangxi Provincial Museum depicts a series of cultural impressions that are unique to the people of Jiangxi.
Of course, Nanchang also has some lesser-known attractions that are an integral part of the city and stand out in their own right, including the Cultural and Creative Park, the Fine Arts Library, and the Old Fashioned Grocery Store.

There are also taste experiences that cannot be missed, such as Xiaomaozai Spicy, Youjia BBQ, and Zunwei Shrimp King, which can satisfy all your imaginations of "can't live without spicy food".

Then, follow the editor’s footsteps and take you to have fun in Nanchang.
Tengwang Pavilioncheck the details
Tengwang Pavilion, located at the confluence of the Ganjiang River and the old course of the Fuhe River on Yanjiang Road in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, is one of the three famous towers of Jiangnan, along with the Yellow Crane Tower and Yueyang Tower. In 1991, it was nominated for one of China's "Top 40 Tourist Attractions" by the National Tourism Administration. In January 2001, it was awarded the title of "National AAAA-level Tourist Area" by the National Tourism Administration. In 2004, it was approved by the State Council as a National Key Scenic Spot. The rebuilt Tengwang Pavilion has become a major tourist attraction in Nanchang and Jiangxi Province. As one of the "Three Famous Towers of Jiangnan," Tengwang Pavilion was destroyed and rebuilt a total of 28 times. The newly completed Tengwang Pavilion is even more majestic than its predecessor, over 1,300 years ago, embodying the imposing grandeur of "soaring pavilions, flowing red, and towering over the ground." The "Ma Dang Shen" luxury yacht was built for tourists to cruise the Ganjiang River. The Tengwang Pavilion Hotel, VIP banquet hall, antique performance hall, and celebrity calligraphy and painting hall have also been constructed. Climbing the tower offers panoramic views of Nanchang. The immense fame of the Pavilion of Prince Teng is largely due to the popular prose piece "Preface to the Pavilion of Prince Teng." Legend has it that the poet Wang Bo, visiting relatives in Nanchang, happened upon the occasion when Governor Yan was hosting a banquet at the Pavilion after its renovations. Wang Bo improvised the poem, "A Farewell Preface to the Pavilion of Prince Teng on an Autumn Day in Hongfu," which impressed the guests. Following Wang Bo's preface, Wang Zhongshu wrote a commentary and Wang Xu a fu, forming what is known in history as the "Three Wangs' Essays." From then on, the preface became famous for the pavilion, and the pavilion for its preface. Over the course of 1,300 years, the five pavilions of Teng underwent 28 cycles of construction and destruction, ultimately being burned down in 1926 by the forces of the Beiyang warlord Deng Ruzhuo.

The setting sun and the lone wild goose fly together, the autumn water and the sky become one color. When you come to Nanchang, besides visiting Bayi Square to feel the glorious glow of the military flag, there is another place you absolutely cannot miss: the renowned Tengwang Pavilion, immortalized in the poetry of Wang Bo.

As one of the three most famous towers in the Jiangnan region, the Pavilion of Prince Teng's grandeur is undeniable. With a height of 57.5 meters and a floor area of 13,000 square meters, the main pavilion features a "three visible and seven hidden" structure, appearing to have three floors from the outside but revealing seven upon entering. The pavilion exudes a stately atmosphere, with red bricks and green tiles, embodying a distinct Jiangnan style.

As you enter the hall, an exquisite white marble relief comes into view, titled "The Wind Brings Tengwang Pavilion Away", which is full of charm. The most amazing thing is the design of the pavilion roof, which is colorful but not exaggerated, and winding and dazzling.

The pavilion houses many precious historical relics, including the large acrylic murals "Outstanding People" and "Linchuan Dream". It is the best place to overlook Nanchang, where you can take in the beautiful scenery of mountains and rivers.
Sparks of fire spread across the prairie, a poetic scroll of poetry and painting, heroes' blood forged the Great Wall. The Nanchang Uprising Memorial Hall is a dedicated memorial dedicated to the Nanchang Uprising. As a national first-class museum and one of the first national "Patriotic Education Demonstration Bases," the August 1st Museum has been bustling with visitors since its opening, becoming a landmark in Nanchang, attracting countless visitors.

If red is the background color of Nanchang, then the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall is the gathering and crystallization of this background color, presenting Nanchang's red culture to the world without reservation, so real and so inspiring.
The museum displays a variety of old revolutionary items, black and white photos, and tough pistols, all of which tell visitors unique memories of the Nanchang Uprising and vividly interpret the selfless spirit of the revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives and shed their blood.

There are many cultural relics in the museum, and the most memorable one is the "First Shot". Behind it is a bright military flag and a group of troops marching forward. The sculpture is lifelike, depicting the soldiers' passionate and fearless spirit of the enemy appropriately. In an instant, those stories that were frozen in history books are on paper. Walking slowly along the more than 400-meter historical corridor, it is as if I have become a soldier, and infinite emotion surges in my heart. Those glorious years belonging to the revolutionary predecessors will last forever.
The first shot, a shot that shook the souls, transformed the weak into the strong. As the site where the military flag was raised, August 1st Square is a must-see for every visitor to Nanchang. Beneath the azure sky and white clouds, the majestic August 1st Nanchang Uprising Memorial Tower stands alone, a highlight of Nanchang's revolutionary culture.
The memorial tower is 53.6 meters high and is paved with stone bricks. On the top of the tower is a heroic August 1st Army flag, which is solemn and sacred, and inspires awe.

There are military history reliefs around the center of the square, telling eight major military stories, including the Nanchang Uprising, the Autumn Harvest Uprising, and the Jinggangshan Struggle. On the back is a landscape relief with eight national scenic spots in Jiangxi as the theme. One side is iron-clad and the other side is beautiful mountains and rivers. They blend together to interpret Jiangxi's history, culture and natural scenery without reservation.

There is also a flag-raising platform in the square, with the five-star red flag fluttering in the wind. The white marble on the north side of the flag-raising platform is engraved with "Where the military flag is raised", which was inscribed by Jiang Zemin himself. It has profound significance and its status is self-evident.
In addition, the square also has musical fountains, water curtain movies and other landscapes. Today, Bayi Square is not only a gathering place for Nanchang’s red culture, but also a central square for citizens to relax and entertain.
The museum is a cultural gathering of a region. When you come to Nanchang, you must not miss this unique cradle of history and culture.
Beautiful museums are all the same, but interesting museums are rare. Compared with other museums, the biggest highlight of Jiangxi Provincial Museum is the exhibition of archaeological findings of the Han Dynasty Haihunhou Kingdom. As a shocking discovery, the tomb of Haihunhou has become an important archaeological discovery in Nanchang, which has greatly promoted the progress of ancient historical civilization research.

Located on Xinzhou Island in the Fuhe River, the museum showcases the diverse charm of Jiangxi, using historical themes, nature, and revolution as its backdrop. The museum's architecture, inspired by a Ming Dynasty white porcelain three-tube vessel unearthed in Jingdezhen, is imbued with artistic flair.

The History Museum displays unique historical relics that are timeless. The Nature Museum depicts picturesque natural scenery. The Revolution Museum tells touching revolutionary stories. The fusion and collision of simplicity, freshness and passion create a cultural impression unique to Jiangxi people.

The museum's treasures include a square bronze tripod with tiger ears and nipple pattern, a bronze tiger with a crouching bird and two tails from the Shang Dynasty, a Yuan Dynasty blue and white plum vase with pine, bamboo and plum patterns, etc. Each of these items is full of craftsmanship. Under the spotlight, each old object comes alive and tells a story to the visitors.
Flowing water flows around the old streets, and clear springs cast shadows on ancient towers. In the old city of Nanchang, there is an attraction that cannot be missed. The streets are old and the alleys are quiet, full of ancient charm. That is the Shengjin Tower located on Jinta Yi Street. Built in the Tang Dynasty, the Shengjin Tower is red and white, with an antique style and full of Jiangnan charm.
As the treasure of Nanchang people, Shengjin Pagoda is known as "the perfect place for water and fire to come together and guard the city by the river", and it is an indispensable Feng Shui treasure land.

The Shengjin Pagoda adopts a typical Jiangnan brick and wood structure. The tower is 50.86 meters high, with seven floors and eight sides, and a gourd-shaped top, showing a strong religious color. The red railings and green tiles are matched with black corners and clean walls, and the exquisite feeling is unobstructed.

In addition to the mysterious and charming ancient tower, the Shengjin Tower Food Street here is even more fascinating. The food street brings together all the special snacks of old Nanchang, which are authentic, colorful, fragrant and delicious. The street is quaint and quiet, and you can see colorful shops, dilapidated cabinets, and some cute sculptures, which make people instantly travel back to the innocent childhood and encounter a pleasant and romantic time.
The 699 Cultural and Creative Park is located in Qingshan Lake District, Nanchang City. It was formerly the Jiangxi Hua'an Knitting Factory. Now it has transformed into a cultural and creative park with a strong literary and artistic atmosphere. It is also a niche place preferred by young people.
The original Soviet-style factory building has been transformed into a charming red brick house by the embellishment of artists. The low house is surrounded by vibrant ivy, alternating between red and green, which is leisurely and cute, becoming a unique background wall, and it can be a walking blockbuster at any time.

The Creative Park integrates creative design, cultural education, coffee bookstores, personalized restaurants and other facilities. Wandering around, you can hear the melodious and lingering folk songs coming from the tavern. If you are not careful, you may bump into the characters in the cartoons. The low houses are filled with various graffiti, which are playful and cute, making people feel very happy.
If you are a nostalgic person, you must come here for a walk. The old food shops, shabby coffee shops, and childhood bicycles will instantly bring you back to the 1990s, and all the memories will come flooding back to your mind.

Art is romantic and eclectic. The originally old and conservative factory has been integrated with some artistic elements and instantly becomes personalized. The ancient and modern are combined, and art and nature coexist. Find a quiet cafe, pick up a book casually, and watch the shadows of trees sway outside the window. Time has been fast-forwarded, quiet and beautiful.
In the forest, deep in the lotus flowers, stands a quiet and beautiful Meishuguan. Aixihu Meishuguan is located in Aixihu Wetland Park, with endless scenery at its disposal. Its geographical location is unique. As you walk along the path, you will see an ancient signboard waving at you, and the three big characters "Meishuguan" come into view.

Aixihu Bookstore is decorated in natural wood color, with a fresh and elegant style. It incorporates a lot of aesthetic designs. It is simple but not simplistic, creating an extremely comfortable experience for visitors.

The Aixihu Art Library houses over 20,000 books, allowing you to spend a fulfilling and tranquil afternoon simply flipping through one. The gallery displays a vibrant array of butterfly specimens, allowing you to experience the mysteries of nature.
There are many exquisite small tables in the museum for visitors to read and rest. There is an artistic vase on each table. Clouds roll outside the window, and the fragrance of books fills the air inside the window, which makes people feel that time is quiet and peaceful.

Today, the Meishuguan is not only a beautiful business card of "high-tech culture", but also an artistic space for people to spread aesthetics. During holidays, there are always some literary and artistic young people who come here to read, take photos, or find a quiet place with no one around to enjoy a leisurely and slow time.
The days of the past have slowed, transportation and mail have slowed, and a lifetime is only long enough to love one person. Since when, "slowness" has become an unwavering pursuit for most people. In Nanchang, there's also a place that embodies this slow pace: Fenghuangzhou Citizen Park. While most parks seem identical, Fenghuangzhou Citizen Park, set against the backdrop of Nanchang's history and culture, offers a leisurely stroll through the city, allowing visitors to relive the past.

The park is planned and laid out with "three veins and three nodes", highlighting local characteristics while creating a charming riverside landscape.
The first vein is a green vein characterized by flowing spaces, a vibrant display of fallen petals, and over 70 varieties of flowers. The second vein is an artery, featuring flowing train tracks. A 3.5-kilometer-long sightseeing train takes you on a journey through Nanchang's century-long history. The third vein is a river vein, characterized by a leisurely riverside walkway, where lush grass and the tranquil waters flow.

The three nodes are Niuxing Station, the waterfront square, and the green space along the river. Under the blue sky and white clouds, Niuxing Station and the Nanchang Uprising Exhibition Hall stand quietly, quaint and quiet, with a sense of history.
There is also a music bar in the park, which is shaded by green trees and has a literary and elegant style. The guitar sounds in the bar are captivating, which interprets the slow life to the extreme.
Geometry Bookstore, nestled amidst a vibrant green space, is my ideal bookstore. Its unique interior design makes it feel more like an art gallery than a bookstore. Its refined and restrained aesthetic, with its interplay of various artistic elements, embodies the pinnacle of aesthetics. The bookstore, with its earthy yellow hue, exudes a retro, artistic flair, and the fragrance of books, is truly captivating upon entering.

There are countless doors of different sizes in the bookstore, crisscrossing like a maze, taking you on a journey of hide-and-seek with books. In addition to a variety of literary books, here you can also see some childhood memories, colorful popping candies, cute dolls, and some small and exquisite ornaments, filling your eyes and letting you feel the true meaning of life in the fragrance of books.

Geometry Bookstore is both artistic and mysterious. It's easy to stumble into a new, unknown world. Beyond the narrow aisle lies a vast space, where neatly arranged wooden chairs await the arrival of those destined for the spotlight. Warm spotlights illuminate the space, creating a cozy and beautiful atmosphere. At this moment, with a cappuccino, a sense of poetry wells up within.
Anyone who's been to Xiamen will be captivated by the tranquility of the old warehouse. In Nanchang, a similar niche spot has quietly taken root on Qingshan Lake Avenue: the Xijiu Grocery Store. A name that transports you back to the last century, a weathered chair, mottled in its rust, evokes a sense of history. The words "Xijiu" (Happy Old) are emblazoned on the door, creating a festive yet unostentatious atmosphere. A bright red sticker on the glass door evokes the image of a Republican-era wedding, igniting your interest.

Various old televisions, in different colors and styles, tell stories unique to their era. Although the screens are no longer lit, the fragments of memories that emerge in the mind will never disappear.
Here, you can find the dressing table in grandma's memory, a shabby but stylish electric fan, two painted tin cans, and a small radio. All the images of the old times are vividly portrayed on the paper, making people fall into endless contemplation.

On the second floor of the general store is the "Lushang Bookstore." Though small, it's well-equipped, offering a wide selection of Chinese and international literature, where you can easily stumble upon interesting people. Exquisite retro leather sofas, vivid old movies, and sleek old bicycles—those gilded days of the past unfold before your eyes.
On a sunny day, there is nothing more pleasant than visiting a park. Every city has a park that is popular among its citizens, and Nanchang is no exception. Yaohu Country Forest Park is a park that integrates the countryside, entertainment, leisure and sports.
The park makes full use of the natural Yao Lake surface and beach to create a "Golden Coast" with a strong marine style. It is called the "Maldives" of Nanchang by citizens. During holidays, it is always crowded with people. A lounge chair and a drink are enough to spend an entire afternoon.

Surrounded by water and boasting extensive greenery, the park is like a natural oxygen bar, perfect for enjoying a relaxing ride with friends, singing songs, and cycling. A long red bridge connecting the park to the center of the lake offers a prime photo spot. At the end of the bridge is a quaint, pointed-roof pavilion, creating a refreshing and elegant atmosphere.

The beach is white and soft, with jagged rocks. Occasionally, odd-shaped pebbles can be found by the lake, their edges smoothed by the water, leaving them incredibly soft. Overlooking the entire park, it feels like a tranquil island, shaded by green trees and offering a sense of leisure and ease.
Only love and food should not be let down. As a real foodie, when I came to Nanchang, besides having fun, the first task was to eat. Long before I came to Nanchang, I had been "brooding" about Yet Another BBQ. This trip to Nanchang, I finally had the opportunity to feast my eyes. Yet Another BBQ has many branches in Nanchang, and the one I chose this time is the Donghu branch. As a newly renovated store, the style of the store is eye-catching. A huge sailboat comes into view, red and white, very magnificent. Before I really walked in, I was attracted by the enthusiasm that came to me.

Walking into the store, it feels like stepping into a magical world. The colorful and various shapes fill my eyes. The "slogan" at the foot of the stairs is particularly eye-catching. The five big words "Nanchang's No. 1 Show" instantly ignite all your enthusiasm. All the cells in your body begin to get restless, as if you have traveled back to the age of eighteen.

I'm more drawn to the delicious barbecue than the exquisite interior design. A plate of doudou butter and roasted lamb is a must. As the saying goes, to test the quality of a barbecue restaurant, start with the roasted lamb. The simplest ingredients often test the chef's skill. Unsurprisingly, the roasted lamb completely won me over.

The seasoning of the mutton is just right, neither too salty nor too bland, and the mutton's original smell is completely removed, with a delicate and tender taste. In comparison, the butter has a crispier texture. One bite of it will give you a burst of happiness without being greasy at all.

The beef tendon is incredibly chewy, with just the right amount of softness. Combined with the dipping sauce, it's rich but not greasy, making it a real treat. The charcoal-grilled yellow throat is equally astonishing, capturing the essence without overpowering the seasoning.

The charcoal-grilled pork knuckle is the restaurant's signature dish and my favorite. With one bite, you're bursting with collagen, and a sense of bliss arises. The trotter is generously portioned, with a rich garlic flavor, and paired with the local vegetable stems, it's a perfect shave. The original large sweet shrimp is incredibly authentic, leaving a sweet aftertaste on the tongue. It's truly a breath of fresh air in the barbecue world.

If you are a durian lover, please don’t miss the cheese grilled durian here. As a barbecue restaurant, it is surprising that they can make durian so delicious. Take a big bite and feel the cheese pulling in your mouth, accompanied by the fragrance of durian, which is very memorable.

Of course, beer is absolutely indispensable for barbecue. The Hoegaarden, White Bear, Temptation No. 8 and other beverages here have a mellow taste and are reasonably priced. They are the best pairing with barbecue. Of course, if you don’t like drinking, you can also try the old rock sugar mung bean cup and herbal plum juice here, which will bring you back to zero degrees instantly.
Speaking of Nanchang, in addition to its rich and colorful red culture, there is also an indelible label, that is, a food paradise. As a city that loves spicy food, Nanchang has a lot of special foods, including all kinds of braised food. If red is the background color of Nanchang, half of it is definitely given by "chili peppers".
As a foodie, I have traveled all over the country and tasted delicacies from all over the country, but I can't get enough of the food in Nanchang. There are many kinds of "spicy" food. Sichuan is spicy, Hunan is pure spicy, and Nanchang is fragrant spicy. It is a kind of spicy food that you love and hate, and you can't stop eating. It is really irresistible.

Nanchang has countless spicy flavors, but the one that surprised me the most was the Nanchang Xiaomaozai spicy flavor, a name that sounds so authentic. Sure enough, after entering the restaurant, I truly experienced the saying "good wine needs no bush."
Nanchang Xiaomaozai Spicy Food is located in Nanchang High-tech Development Zone. Its geographical location is relatively remote, but this does not affect the business of the store. When I arrived at the store, it was not yet mealtime, but there was already a long queue in the store, which made me even more impatient.

The decoration style of the store is relatively simple, with the flavor of old Nanchang. Friends who have been to Nanchang know that these seemingly unprepossessing small stores often have "unique skills" that will surprise you, and Xiaomaozai Spicy is one of them.
It can be said that every dish was highly praised. At first, I was worried that the spiciness would be unacceptable, but I couldn’t bear to ask the chef to change the cooking method. But surprisingly, the spiciness was completely acceptable and even addictive.

The clam shells have a fresh and fragrant taste. Dip them in the thick soup and feel the clam meat bursting in your mouth. You can't stop eating them one by one. The taste is amazing.
The signature lotus root slices are an indispensable dish to go with rice. The slices are of moderate thickness and have a thin and crispy texture. Paired with the store’s homemade sauce, the taste is instantly elevated to several levels. Add a bottle of ice-cold beer, and a seemingly ordinary vegetarian dish can actually taste like a feast.

The taste of Xiaolan's beef offal was unexpected. As a foodie who doesn't like animal offal, I have always kept my distance from it and rarely get to eat something that satisfies me. However, this time I was flattered. After being blanched in a boiling iron pan, the beef offal had no fishy smell at all. When paired with side dishes such as mung bean sprouts, it had a fresh and fragrant taste that was truly a feast for the eyes.

Maozai rice noodle meat is the signature dish of the store. Steamed rice noodle dishes are a specialty of Jiangxi and are rarely found outside of the province. The lean and fat pork is wrapped in dense rice noodles, which has a soft and glutinous texture and a special fragrance that covers up the original fat of the meat. It is healthy and has an excellent taste.

The taste of the killer duck head really lives up to its name. It makes people feel "creepy" as soon as they put it in their mouth. All the taste buds in the body are awakened, and there is an indescribable surprise. Although it tastes a bit spicy, it is extremely satisfying.

Countryside cured duck is a home-cooked dish. After the duck is smoked with a secret method, the aroma is extracted to just the right degree. Once it is served on the table, people can't help but pick up their chopsticks. The duck meat is tender and not dry at all.

Finally, let’s have a secret beef skewer. Good-looking beef skewers are all the same, but delicious beef skewers are hard to find. Compared with stir-fried beef, beef skewers can easily be overcooked. What’s surprising is that Xiaomaozai’s beef skewers don’t have that problem at all. The chef’s heat is just right, preserving the flavor of the beef itself. After the combination of seasonings, people can’t stop eating.
There are many delicious foods in Nanchang, including many time-honored restaurants. During this trip to Nanchang, I accidentally came across such a restaurant. I originally went there for the shrimp, but was conquered by a bowl of rich mutton soup.
Zunwei Shrimp King, as an old brand restaurant, has many branches in Nanchang, and the one I checked in at this time was the Liantai branch.

Good mutton has no smell and is more fresh and flavorful. When I first saw Zunwei Shrimp King, I was attracted by its loud slogan. It can be said that my words came true. A bowl of mutton soup has completely conquered my stomach.
The store is not big and is divided into two floors. The dining environment is comfortable and elegant, with a sense of leisure without the distraction of music.
The lamb here is all carefully sourced from the natural pastures of Ningxia's Yanchi. It boasts authentic flavor, a firm texture, and exceptional nutritional value. Before dinner, a bowl of lamb soup will instantly melt away any fatigue and captivate your taste buds.

We ordered a total of 10 dishes this time, among which the health-preserving and nourishing lamb is definitely the favorite of girls. It is very nutritious and the taste is amazing. The mutton's mutton smell is gone without a trace. Paired with red dates, wolfberries and other medicinal herbs, it is a rare delicacy in the world. Even friends who don't like lamb should not miss it.

The red willow lamb skewers are very generous in portion, with super large chunks of lamb, making the meal extremely satisfying. The lamb is just the right amount of fat and lean, and when you take a bite, the juice fills your entire mouth, bringing a sense of happiness.
This is a paradise for mutton lovers. It was my first time trying mutton fried dumplings, and the taste was very surprising. The fried dough on the bottom was extremely crispy, and the dumpling skin was thin and the meat was rich. One bite at a time was a real feast.

Fried artemisia with bacon is an authentic Jiangxi dish. The fragrance of artemisia and the smoky aroma of bacon collide perfectly, refreshing and refreshing, making it a natural combination.

The clams cooked with fermented rice wine have a slightly stimulating taste at first, which is a bit unexpected. But after tasting it carefully, I find it precious. It is the first time I have encountered such a wonderful collision. The sweetness and spiciness of the lees are perfectly absorbed by the clams, making it a rare dish to go with rice.

The braised crabs in oil inject soul into this food journey. The method is simple, but the taste is not simple. The crabs are colorful, fragrant and delicious, and the crab roe is rich, making people unable to stop chewing.

The signature dish here is the delicious edamame. Although it is a seemingly insignificant dish, the taste is unforgettable. Even the shell is full of soup, which makes it crispy, delicious and very appetizing.

Although the Changsha stinky tofu here is a foreign dish, its taste is extremely authentic. It smells very stinky but tastes very fragrant, which perfectly interprets the essence of stinky tofu.
