The Volcano Island Natural Ecological Scenic Area is located in the coastal area between Qianting Town and Fotan Town in Zhangpu County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, approximately 50 kilometers from Xiamen, Zhangzhou City, and Zhangpu County. The Volcano Island Natural Ecological Scenic Area is a well-preserved coastal volcanic geological relic and has been listed by the Fujian Provincial Government as one of Fujian's Top Ten Tourism Brands. The scenic area preserves traces of central volcanic eruption structures and later weathering and marine erosion geological landforms. The scenic area comprises "Three Mountains (Xiangshan, Yanloushan, and Yulingshishan), Three Islands (Linjinyu, Nanding Island, and Zhengmei Peninsula), and Three Bays (Qisha Bay, Jiangkou Bay, and Houcai Bay). The entire Volcano Island scenic area boasts a classic beach scene, with azure seas, clear waters, fine sand, and coconut groves, making it a perfect place for sightseeing and a relaxing getaway. The area also boasts unique volcanic geological structures, particularly the Shizhu Waterfalls on Nanding Island, a treasure trove for adventure seekers and photographers. 1. Take a bus to Xiamen Tourist Passenger Terminal
Address: No. 33 Lujiang Road, 10 minutes walk from the ferry terminal
Buy Xiamen-Zhangzhou Port ferry tickets: You can buy tickets as soon as you enter the gate, no need to buy in advance, there are very few people; 12 yuan per person + 2 yuan compulsory insurance, it takes about 20 minutes to reach Zhangzhou Port (remember to bring your ID card).
Flight time: 6:30 AM - 9:30 PM (15 flights per minute on average)
2. Arrive at Zhangzhou Port and go to Volcano Island from Zhangzhou Port Terminal

👉You can wear mainly white or bright colors, and try not to wear dark clothes.
👉 Remember to bring a straw hat and sunglasses. One is for posing and looking better in photos. The beach is very sunny, so you can use them as sunscreen.
👉 Make sure to wear plenty of sunscreen, as there's no shelter at the beach to prevent sunburn. Also, bring mosquito repellent!
Because the scenic area is very large, it is easy to get lost on foot, so if it is summer, you must take the scenic shuttle bus (20 yuan/person, only one-way travel, you can get on and off at any time), otherwise you will be extremely exposed to the sun.
If you stay in the scenic area, you will be given free scenic area tickets and battery car tickets (Monument Valley tickets need to be purchased separately).
From the main gate, take a sightseeing bus. Tell the driver to drive to the "Volcanology Museum" and he'll know what's going on! Go past the museum and walk down the coastal boardwalk to a vast expanse of volcanic rocks.

This is a large area and not many people there, so it is easy to take great photos.
Go up from the Bubble House to the large lawn by the sea and you can see this popular internet celebrity area with the most people. When there are many people, you will encounter queues, but there is no additional charge.
Last year, the blue minibus was refurbished to a bright yellow. It matches the blue sea perfectly when parked by the sea.

This area has been renovated, and a slide has been added next to it, but the lawns on both sides are a bit bald, so it doesn't look very nice in photos.
There is a lot of mud on the slide, and it is very hot in summer, so you can't just slide down to the beach, but it is still good for taking pictures.
In addition to the large lawn where internet celebrities take photos, there is also a large lawn near the accommodation area, which is very open.
If you have enough time to plan to stay in the scenic area, it is recommended that you bring your own picnic mat, kite and snacks in spring and autumn. It would be nice to have a picnic here.

The accommodation in the Volcano Island Scenic Area includes both row houses and single-family houses. This is where Xiao S stayed when she came to the Volcano Island.
A single-family house is very suitable for a large family or friends to come on vacation or for team building, as there are many small rooms in one house.
This is a row of wooden houses with a very nice environment. The two rooms share a balcony. The room is equipped with tea sets and tea leaves. It is so pleasant to sit on the balcony and watch the sunrise in the morning.

I recommend the rooms near the sea. At night, closing your eyes and listening to the sound of the waves makes you feel like you're floating in the middle of the ocean. In the morning, you can walk 2 minutes along the path to the beach, where you can watch the sunrise.

Tent House
The tent area inside the volcanic island is slightly more expensive than the cabins. It also has a bathroom, TV, air conditioning, etc., and is very cozy.

Bubble House
This is the newest area. It is colorful and full of childishness, full of macaron colors. It is very suitable for families with children to stay.
The Bubble House is very close to Monument Valley and Rainbow Mountain, and is a large area of stand-alone bubble houses.

There are not many accommodation options near the volcanic island, and most of them are hotels run by locals, and the prices are generally not low.
This homestay is about 1.2km away from the volcanic island scenic area, which is a little far and more suitable for friends who travel by car.
Behind the B&B is Phase 2, which has a newly built swimming pool and a white corridor house. There are many palm trees planted in the yard, which is very suitable for taking pictures.

The entire homestay is in the pure white and simple style of Instagram. The homestay supports self-service barbecue, but remember to make an appointment with the owner in advance (at your own expense).
However, because the surrounding area is full of villages and towns with ordinary scenery, it is easy to feel a psychological gap when you see it for the first time when you arrive.

Due to the remote location of the volcanic island, the surrounding infrastructure is not very complete. Like accommodation, restaurants are also quite scarce here. There are also many fishing houses and small restaurants opened by the owner at the entrance of the volcanic island scenic area. Since I haven't tried them all, I won't recommend them here.
If you're on a one-day trip and have a tight schedule, it's recommended to bring your own dry food and snacks. If you have more time on a two-day trip, I recommend the following two restaurants that I personally think have decent ambiance.
There are only two restaurants in the scenic area. One is Rokudenya Japanese Ramen at the entrance, and the other is the sea view restaurant on the first floor of Monument Valley.
The environment is superb, facing the sea and you can smell the salty sea breeze. Except for the price which is not very good (compared to the food stalls), everything else is pretty good.
