Huangguoshu Waterfall can be said to be a scenic spot that carries childhood memories. It has official promotion starting from elementary school textbooks, as well as real-life promotion in the childhood popular online drama "Journey to the West". Our generation has to be deeply impressed by Huangguoshu Waterfall.
Just like the Elephant Trunk Hill in Guilin, the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Bund in Shanghai, and the Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan, it is a place you must see with your own eyes.

Anshun West Railway Station - Huangguoshu Scenic Area is 40km away, a 40-minute drive. There is Anshun West Passenger Transport Station next to the railway station. There is a direct express bus to the scenic area, which departs in a continuous manner and the fare is 22 yuan.
The distance from Anshun Huangguoshu Airport to the Huangguoshu Scenic Area is 42 km. There is no direct bus service, so you need to transfer to Anshun West Station or Anshun Station for buses to the Huangguoshu Scenic Area. A taxi costs around 150 yuan.
Guiyang Longdongbao Airport - Huangguoshu Scenic Area, 150km, 2h, self-driving is recommended.

The special feature of the scenic spot is the facial recognition ticket verification. Tickets are purchased with an ID card. After that, to enter other combined ticket scenic spots or buses, you only need to scan your face. It is very convenient, just like ticket verification at a train station.

What’s amazing is that Huangguoshu Waterfall also adopts a time-sharing reservation system that requires ticket purchase one day in advance. This effectively diverts tourists to avoid unnecessary congestion. VIP express tickets can be booked on major OTAs, which is an unusual way to go.
What is more special is that the Huangguoshu Hotel has its own entrance to the scenic area, which can be reached directly from the hotel. There are also several waterfall-viewing rooms, from which you can directly see the Huangguoshu Waterfall through the hotel's floor-to-ceiling windows.

Huangguoshu Guest House is located diagonally across from the VIP express entrance, making it very convenient to use the expressway and very close to the highway exit. The hotel has a large restaurant and is well-equipped with various facilities. It is highly recommended.
Each building in the independent courtyard has about six guest rooms. There's a shared lobby on the first floor. Because the rooms also have living rooms, the soundproofing is excellent when the two doors are closed. The hotel's electric car can be used to pick up and transport luggage when checking in and out, which is a very thoughtful service.

This hotel is relatively close to the Huangguoshu Waterfall parking lot. It focuses on high-end routes. The hotel's aromatherapy is all shipped from Europe, and the bedding is exactly the same as the bedding at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. The hardware facilities are above average, and the supporting services are the hotel's selling point.
When you are in the hotel, you can feel the strong sense of design. It has a feeling of a Chinese courtyard. It is equipped with tea rooms, restaurants, swimming pools and other facilities. Most of the rooms cost more than 4k a night. The service is expensive.

The RV campsite is located in the scenic area, near the church in the Great Falls Scenic Area. The RVs in the campsite are equipped with small yards. Living here, you can experience the different scenery of Huangguoshu Lake at night.

The waterfall has the largest amount of water during the period from June to October every year.
The number of tourists during major holidays is very large, so it is recommended to travel during off-peak hours. If you really have to travel during those days, it is recommended to buy VIP fast tickets to save a lot of queuing time.
Generally speaking, the waiting time for the Grand Falls shuttle bus on holidays is about half an hour. During major holidays, it should be about the same, because the scenic area will allocate other vehicles in advance to serve as temporary shuttle buses.
1. When visiting the Huangguoshu Scenic Area, please be careful and pay attention to safety! There are many underground rivers in the scenic area, and it is very dangerous to fall into the water accidentally.
2. If you go in the summer, please bring anti-mosquito spray and take sun protection measures. There are many shops and stalls in the scenic area, and many local fruits can be purchased and tasted according to specific circumstances.
3. If you plan to visit three attractions in one day, be sure to go early. The recommended time for visiting the Big Waterfall is 2 hours, the Tianxing Bridge is 3 hours, and the Doupotang is half an hour to 1 hour.
A scenic spot carries a lot of childhood memories of those born in the 80s and 90s. Most people probably remember Huangguoshu for the Monkey King’s Water Curtain Cave. However, the 1986 version of “Journey to the West” was filmed in more than just the Water Curtain Cave. There are at least 6 filming locations of various sizes at Huangguoshu.

Ending song: Where is the way? The waterfall that the master and his disciples have walked through
Although this point is controversial, let’s believe it is here!

Tongtian River
In one of the eighty-one trials faced by Tang Sanzang and his disciples, Sun Wukong fought with them in Tongtian River and saved a boy and a girl. Later, he got help from an old turtle and crossed the Tongtian River.

Friends who have never been to Huangguoshu Waterfall may think that Huangguoshu Waterfall is a scenic spot that can be visited in about half a day. However, when making a travel guide, they found out that the Huangguoshu Waterfall scenic area is so large that it consists of three scenic areas: the Grand Waterfall, the Doupotang Waterfall, and the Tianxing Bridge.
In order to save time, we recommend two routes, with a recommended travel time of 1-1.5 days.
Recommended route for VIP fast-track entry: Big Waterfall - Lower section of Tianxing Bridge - Doupotang
Purchase a Huangguoshu VIP Express Ticket in advance and depart from the Huangguoshu Guest House. First, visit the Great Falls Church. From there, descend the cathedral to the falls, pass through the Water Curtain Cave, and pass four viewing platforms. Take the elevator up to the Great Falls parking lot, then take a bus to Tianxing Bridge. After getting off at the Tianxing Bridge entrance, take the outer passage, cross the front section, and explore the lower section of the bridge starting at Gaolaozhuang. After taking the cable car, an electric car will take you to the beginning of the lower section. You'll then walk back to the Tianxing Bridge entrance. Finally, take a bus to Doupotang. After your visit, walk a short distance, and then the electric car will take you back to the VIP Express entrance near the Huangguoshu Guest House.

Recommended route for ordinary tourists: Doupotang - Big Waterfall - Tianxing Bridge
Why do ordinary tourists choose to travel in this way to avoid peak hours and save time? There is a large parking lot at Tianxing Bridge for travel agencies. Generally, Tianxing Bridge is the first stop for travel agencies to Huangguoshu, so it is the busiest time to arrive in the morning.
At noon, because the scenic area is undergoing upgrades and renovations, restaurants are closed, so group tourists have to go out of the scenic area to have lunch. Therefore, ordinary tourists traveling independently must stick to the time point and take the scenic area shuttle bus between 12:30 and 13:00. At this time, group tourists are all outside the scenic area and there are fewer people queuing.
The Tianxing Bridge scenic area is not big and there is only one waterfall attraction, so it can be visited in about half an hour.
Huangguoshu Waterfall, formerly known as Baishuihe Waterfall, is also known as "Huanggeshu" Waterfall or "Huangjushu" Waterfall. It is named after the "Huangge Banyan" tree that is widely distributed in the area. It is a typical erosion crack waterfall in karst landform.
The waterfall belongs to the Baishui River system of the Pearl River. The Grand Waterfall is the largest first-level waterfall in the Huangguoshu Waterfall group. It is one of the world's famous waterfalls and is famous for its huge water flow.
The waterfall is 77.8 meters high, of which the main waterfall is 67 meters high; the waterfall is 101 meters wide, of which the main waterfall top is 83.3 meters wide.
Xiake Pavilion is a very important landmark of the scenic area, and almost all three scenic spots will pass by here.

After walking a short distance along the trail, through a rather tropical-style path, I could hear the sound of a waterfall in the distance. It's true that you hear the sound of a waterfall before you see it, and I continued forward, following the sound of water.

Suddenly, through the gaps in the woods, a large waterfall appeared before our eyes. The morning sunlight shone on the pool of the first-level waterfall, creating a dazzling and shimmering effect.
Maybe it was because I saw the waterfall, the sound of the water seemed louder, and the water vapor hit my face, like a spray mask.

The mist rising from the trail formed a rainbow under the sunlight, which was beautiful.

Before starting to go down the mountain, we passed by a church, which was very unique. The RV campsite was right next to the church.

Arrive at the viewing platform on the mountain opposite the waterfall, and if you are lucky you can see a rainbow.

Water Curtain Cave

There is also a small section in the Water Curtain Cave with lighting effects. As the colors of the lights change, the scenery in the cave also changes.

There is a cable bridge directly opposite the waterfall, through which you can go to the next viewing platform.

The viewing platform at the foot of the waterfall has the best angle to view the waterfall. There is also a small waterfall. This place is also crowded with tourists who are eager to take photos.

After finishing the photo shoot at the observation deck, take the elevator up and you will be out in about 10 minutes.
Because the scenic area is undergoing renovations, there are no restaurants, so you can only eat outside the scenic area. The nearest restaurant within walking distance is Ziteng Garden, where the buffet is 58 yuan per person.
After lunch, you must hurry up and take the electric car to Tianxing Bridge before 1:00, otherwise the queue will be long due to the large number of tourists in the group.
Located downstream of the Huangguoshu Waterfall, the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area features a beautiful combination of rocks, trees, and water. It is a natural bonsai area formed by a floating stone forest. It is divided into the Tianxing Bonsai Scenic Area, the Tianxing Cave Scenic Area, and the Floating Stone Forest Area.
The Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area has dense stalagmites and lush vegetation, integrating mountains, water, forests and caves. It is praised by tourists as a "ten-thousand-acre bonsai" that is "carved by wind and water swords" and a "masterpiece of all ages" that is "painted on silk with roots, vines and ink."

There are many underground rivers near Tianxing Bridge. They look like a pile of stones, but there is water underneath.

The story of the bridges on bridges on bridges. It turns out this place has a rather unofficial name: Flying Stone. It sounds like there are so many bridges, but which ones are they? The entire scenic area is sandwiched over an underground river. The bridge above the underground river is the first bridge, the bridge visible to the naked eye is the second bridge, and Flying Stone is the third bridge.

Tianxing Cave is a typical karst cave. The open area inside is relatively small, consisting of a main hall and several side halls. Amidst the vibrant and ever-changing array of unusual peaks and rocks, four large stone pillars reach the cave ceiling, their vibrantly colored petals adorning the pillars, resembling carved dragons and phoenixes.
If you like to see caves, you can go to the Dragon Palace next to Huangguoshu. The caves there are another kind of beauty.

When you come to the hall inside the cave, no matter where you go, you can see the huge stalactite in the cave, which is very majestic.

After exiting Tianxing Cave, we arrived at another Journey to the West attraction. Remember the dragon prince who leaped out of the water and transformed from a little white dragon into a little white horse? He did so from this pool.
As mentioned earlier, there are many underground rivers in the Huangguoshu Waterfall Group. This spring is the spring of an underground river. When the water level is high, the water sprayed from the spring can be several meters above the water surface.

Follow the plank road to the small cable car, and see the stone forest on the water from God's perspective on the cable car, which is a unique experience.
After getting off the cable car, there will be an electric car to take you to the starting point of the second half, from where you can walk back to the entrance of Tianxing Bridge and change to a shuttle bus to Doupotang.

Huangguoshu Waterfall became famous after the Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake, but the first waterfall Xu Xiake saw when he first arrived in Huangguoshu was indeed the Duopotang Waterfall.
Doupotang is famous because it is the filming location of the MV "Where is the Way?". Whenever the music starts, I can always think of the scene of Tang Monk and his disciples walking across the waterfall, which is a childhood memory that cannot be erased for many years.

After walking for about 10 minutes following the sound of water, we saw the waterfall. On the trail going down the mountain, everyone couldn't help taking photos and group photos on the trail, so that the trail was always blocked. This shows the attraction of the Doupotang Waterfall.

After finishing the tour of Doupotang Waterfall, we crossed the small bridge and Tongtian River in the sunset and headed back.

We passed by the stone tablet of 9981 difficulties and the scripture drying stone.

We visited the most essential parts of Huangguoshu in one day. The journey was tiring but we enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the way. I believe that the charm of Huangguoshu will remain in my memory for a long time.
