Nanjing Lishui Free Travel, a One-Stop Experience for Food, Drink, and Fun

Preface

When first hearing about Lishui, many people confuse it with Lishui in Zhejiang Province or Liyang in Changzhou. Administratively under the jurisdiction of Nanjing City, Lishui serves as the green lung of the city's eleven districts.

When a drone flies over Lishui, one can hardly see any large-scale heavy industry, only abundant water areas and farmlands. The local livelihood is basically based on aquaculture and farming.

Lishui Countycheck the details

Lishui County, under the jurisdiction of Nanjing Municipality, is the southern gateway to Nanjing, East China's second-largest city. It is the source of the 100-mile Qinhuai River and is known as Nanjing's "Back Garden." As the source of the Qinhuai River, Lishui boasts a charming blend of waterside charm, rural scenery, and mountainous landscapes. With a forest coverage rate of 35%, the county boasts Wuxiangshan National Forest Park, earning it the nickname "Natural Oxygen Bar" and "Urban Green Lung."

Lishui

Shijiu Lake

Lishui is rich in natural resources and cultural heritage, and boasts numerous natural attractions. The recently trending "Nanjing's version of the Sky Realm" refers to Lishui's Shijiu Lake.

Shijiu Lake, which has been trending, has blue sky and white clouds reflected in the clear and empty lake surface. The Shijiu Lake Bridge is like a giant dragon, stretching between the water and the sky. It is indeed a peerless beauty of the "Sky Realm".

Sunrise and sunset are the highlight moments of Shijiu Lake, which is known as "sunrise is as bright as gold, sunset is as bright as silver". "Shijiu Fisherman's Song" is one of the "New Forty Scenic Spots of Jinling".

Regarding the filming location of Shijiu Lake, I did some research before setting off and found four locations. Although the "Sky Realm" was not filmed, the film turned out to be beautiful.

Shooting point 1:

Locate the coordinates of Zhangxu Village, drive near the location point, and you will find a long plank road extending into the lake along the river bank.

There is an abandoned building on the riverbank where the plank road connects to. If you want to take pictures on the plank road, you will probably have to climb over the wall.

The plank road is very photogenic. You can perfectly pretend that you are abroad and capture the vacation style in no time.

Shooting point 2:

Locate and search Xiangyang Village, Shiqiu Street.

You are not allowed to stop and take photos on the Shijiu Lake Bridge. If you stop, you will be fined and have points deducted, so you can park your car in the village above and below the bridge.

The navigation locates Xiangyang Village. There is no need to drive into the village. Instead, after getting off the Shijiu Lake Bridge, turn right at the first traffic light along the lake. There are several parking spaces on the roadside. This is the parking space closest to the bridge, and drones can also take off here.

The Shijiu Lake Bridge is nearly 13 kilometers long, and from a bird's-eye view, the road stretches to the horizon. A subway track runs across the bridge, and the Nanjing S9 Line passes every 10-15 minutes. Drones can be used to capture the train's passage.

Shooting point three:

Zhujia Village, Hefeng Town. The village is adjacent to Shijiu Lake and the scenery along the shore is very beautiful.

About a hundred meters from the lakeshore, there was a boat with a dozen egrets on board. The appearance of such birds shows how good the natural environment here must be!

Shooting point four:

The village roads along the lake have been well built, becoming an excellent scenic route for self-driving along the lake.

Village women washing clothes by the lake in the early morning, villagers walking along the lake in the evening, the summer breeze blowing gently over the lake, blowing away the heat, what a pleasant life.

This place is very similar to Kamakura, because there is a lake like the sea, a train speeding on the lake, small white houses lined up on the shore, and a peaceful life.

Nanjing Metro Line S9

This is also a way to deeply experience the beauty of Shijiu Lake. On a beautiful evening, you can get on the bus from Mingjue Station and take it to Tuanjiewei (pronounced wei).

There are parking lots outside both subway stations, so it is also very friendly to tourists who drive themselves. It is also very nice to park your car outside any station and take a round trip.

Rose Garden

When traveling with friends, we decisively gave up on places with too many mountains or steps, and we couldn't handle the empty scenic spots without any obstructions. So we finally decided to go to Nanjing Rose Garden to enjoy the beautiful flowers.

Ticket price: 30 yuan/person

The rose garden is larger than imagined. If you walk along the signs for the "Best Tour Route", you will pass through several areas of greenhouses and flower fields. There are various landscape corridors along the way, with wisteria flowers and colorful oil-paper umbrellas.

The best places to take photos are in the vast rose fields. There is also a small courtyard of a florist, which is furnished with tables and chairs and is very suitable for taking beautiful photos.

Natural Bridge of "Three Gorges of Jiangnan"

I have heard that Lishui has a "Little Three Gorges of Jiangnan" mentioned by Emperor Qianlong himself, referring to the Yanzhi River and Tiansheng Bridge.

Walking along the trail, we first passed the Love Sea viewing area. This area is strikingly similar to the Nanjing Rose Garden, with love as the main theme of the rose sea landscape.

The natural bridge scenic area was very comfortable in the morning, with green all around and a refreshing breeze blowing from time to time. There were green trees along the way, and the trash cans on the roadside were all very unique in shape.

Follow the signs all the way forward and you will soon reach the cruise ship terminal. Taking a cruise at Tiansheng Bridge is an activity that you cannot miss, but you will have to pay an additional 40 yuan for a ticket.

Take a boat into the Yanzhi River, and you will see strange rocks hanging high on both sides, cliffs and dangerous rocks, and a huge rock flying in the air, like a rainbow lying on the waves, which is quite majestic. There are also beautiful and deep scenery where the river bends. It is indeed "rainfall gathers in the Yanzhi River, and a natural bridge is formed by the magic of nature". No wonder it is called the "Little Three Gorges of Jiangnan".

You can see the suspension bridge when you take a boat tour, and you can walk there after getting off the boat.

The Tianshengqiao Scenic Area is not very large. There are also Phoenix Well, Tianshengqiao Music Valley, and the Tianshengqiao Museum at the exit (free of charge).

This three-story frame structure adopts a central axis symmetrical design, which will make people with obsessive-compulsive disorder feel extremely comfortable. When visiting, it is recommended to start from the exhibition area on the third floor.

Exhibition Hall

The exhibition hall is themed around the history of the excavation of the Yanzhi River and the development and cultural customs of Lishui from ancient times to the present. Touring the entire exhibition hall, I felt strongly that Nanjing's museums seem to have mastered the art of interior design and the art of changing scenery. Each scene is unique yet harmoniously integrated, making the museum both long-lasting and vivid.

Walking to the second half of the exhibition hall, many national cultural relics are also on display, among which is a "Longquan Kiln Celadon Lotus Leaf Lid Large Jar", which is considered the treasure of Lishui Museum.

Going down to the second floor of the museum, there is an observation deck and a bookstore.

There is a 5D roaming experience area on the first floor. You can sit on a boat indoors and put on glasses to relive the history of the excavation of the Yanzhi River with 5D effects.

The project requires an additional ticket of 40 yuan per person, and babies can experience it for free.

There is also another photography spot where you can take pictures of the Yanzhi River without entering the scenic area - Go south on Tianshengqiao Road, 20 to 30 meters away from the Guotang Line. There is a highway bridge that just crosses the Yanzhi River. Park your car on the roadside at the bridge head, and then go up the bridge to take pictures of the Yanzhi River.

Lishui Food

Lishui's farm-style cuisine is truly amazing, filling, and delicious!

From a bowl of shrimp paste noodles that tastes amazing, to the crispy pigeon that is so delicious that you can't stop eating it, from a bowl of dry noodles in a street shop, to various steamed and braised small fish, Lishui cuisine is worthy of praise.

①Zhiwei Qinghuan Shrimp Paste Noodles

Shop Name: Nanjing Tianjie's Homestay

Location: No. 800, Zhujia, Zhangjia Village, Hefeng Town, Lishui District

This is when we are hungry and a bowl of shrimp paste noodles makes us rave about it.

② Street food dry noodles

Store Name: Yunlai Noodle House

Location: Building 9, Xinlong Jiayuan, Xinlong Road, Yongyang Town, Lishui District

Don’t underestimate Nanjing people’s love for noodles and the variety of noodles they have. Lishui’s dry noodles are really delicious!

Unlike other mixed noodles, their noodles are freshly fried with toppings. After the toppings are cooked, they are served on a plate. The cooking oil used to fry the toppings is left in the wok, and the noodles are added to the wok and mixed well, coating them with the broth from the toppings before serving. Therefore, the taste of dry noodles will be different depending on the toppings you order, and there are countless variations in it.

③Li Zaifeng's crispy pigeon

Store Name: Li Zaifeng Farm

Coordinates: Baidu search - Nanjing Jiutang Agricultural Development Co., Ltd.

If we were to rank the delicacies we had in Lishui on this trip, this crispy pigeon would have to be the top of the list, the top of the top!

There is a farm house hidden in Li Zaifeng Village. It is difficult to locate it by navigation, and the roadside sign is not obvious. The owner, Sister Wang, said that they all have regular customers, and one customer brings another. Business is very good and they are not worried about having no business at all. It is indeed the confidence of "good wine needs no bush".

Sister Wang’s farm also has a large orchard with a large number of pear trees. Now is the season when pears are ripe, so she recommended a dish of stir-fried pork tenderloin with green crown pears. It is a very refreshing and delicious dish, very suitable for summer.

We also ordered a white fish dish, which is actually a whitebait. This fish has large bones and is suitable for babies. Lishui is close to the water, so the fish products are fresh and delicious.

④Delicious ingredients and bamboo clouds

Name: Nanjing Bamboo Cloud B&B

Coordinates: No. 298, Fengxiangling Village, Jinqiao Town, Lishui District

Zhushang Yunxiang is a comprehensive tourist resort offering B&Bs, restaurants, and fruit picking. Driving past the gate, you'll find a winding bamboo forest with willows and flowers, creating a very relaxing environment. The dining area and B&B area are not far apart, passing by a vast pear orchard.

Braised small fish

There were eight or nine small crucian carps in a large basin.

Steamed free-range eggs

A big bowl of golden yellow soup, cooked to the perfect temperature, smooth and refreshing with a rich egg aroma.

Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs

This is my mom's absolute favorite dish. She always orders it at any restaurant that serves it. However, the way they cook it here is a little different from how we cook it here. I'm not sure if all sweet and sour pork ribs in Lishui are cooked this way.

The ribs were not coated with starch, but were stir-fried directly in a pan after being boiled in a sweet and sour soup. The finished product was dark in color, but the taste was still good.

Iced pear juice

Refreshing and delicious, it's the taste of summer.

Dessert recommendation: peach gum

The thickness and sweetness are just right, and wolfberry and red dates are added to the stew. The sweetness of these two just makes up for the blandness of peach gum, making it light and refreshing.

fermented rice cake

This is probably because they added white wine when kneading the dough, and then fried the pancakes on both sides in oil, and sprinkled sesame seeds on them after taking them out of the pan. When they were first served, the aroma of white wine and sesame filled the air, and the pancakes were fragrant and glutinous inside.

Recommended B&B

To facilitate our itinerary, we stayed in two guesthouses. One was Tian Jie's Homestay in Hefeng Town, on the shores of Shijiu Lake; the other was Li Zaifeng Granary Boutique Hotel in Shiqiu Street. Both were excellent experiences, each with its own unique charm.

Tian Jie's Homestay

The advantage of Sister Tian's homestay is that it is right on the shore of Shijiu Lake, just a two-minute walk away, and it is also beautiful to take pictures of the sunset.

Sister Tian’s house has a small tent parent-child room. The room is Japanese-style, with the couch and public area made of tatami, which feels soft and comfortable to the feet.

The room is really big, especially the tatami public area. The room design is very freehand, with each window leaving blank space and scenery like black and white mountains and rivers.

There is also a game table where children can play Lego. In such a room, children can play from the afternoon until late at night.

Tian Jie's B&B has several houses in Zhujia Village, with a unified landscape design. The main color is white, matched with the original wood color, which creates a natural and comfortable visual effect.

There are some vegetables planted in the yard. From time to time, you can see dogs taking a walk, egrets flying in the sky, and some small uninvited guests.

Breakfast is simple, a bowl of porridge, a plate of side dishes, a few buns, and a plate of coarse grains. If it is not enough, you can add more.

The village where Sister Tian lives seems to be an ancient village with a long history. When I took a morning walk, I passed by the Zhu family ancestral hall.

It's said that the Zhu family's cultural heritage stretches back to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Over a thousand years of cultural heritage have left countless legends in this lakeside fishing village, though many of these splendid stories have been lost to the dust of time. However, we can still find traces of the Zhu family's cultural spirit in some of its ancient buildings.

Lee Jae-bong Granary Dushe Hotel

When I first saw the name of the hotel: "Li Zaifeng" and "Granary", I felt it was quite strange. Later I learned that the predecessor of the hotel was an abandoned old grain station. On this basis, the hotel retained the old walls and part of the original structure, and transformed it into the current hotel with a very high appearance.

The suite is very large, with functional areas for the living room and bedroom, a bar area, and a dedicated sink.

The room is located on the first floor, with bamboos planted outside the floor-to-ceiling door, which not only adds privacy but also makes the room comfortable with the green embellishment.

Breakfast starts at 7am and the variety is quite homely. There are not many choices, but the taste is OK and you can eat your fill without any problem.
