Recommended tours around Zhengzhou: A guide to Fuxi Mountain, where flowers bloom in the mountains and a big embrace with the wilderness

Preface

Spring has arrived, bringing blossoms and life to life. It's time to don your floral dresses and take the kids on a spring outing. Fuxi Mountain, nestled in the ancient city of Xinmi, southwest of Zhengzhou, is ablaze with blossoms and lush greenery. While not as vibrant as the vibrant greenery of midsummer, Fuxi Mountain at this time of year evokes the hazy, gentle beauty of early spring, a romantic yet inviting element of caution.

Fuxi Mountain

Formerly known as Fuxi Mountain, it is the birthplace of Chinese civilization. With a peak elevation of 1,108.5 meters, Fuxi Mountain, a northeastern extension of Mount Song, stretches over 50 kilometers from east to west, spanning Xinmi, Dengfeng, Gongyi, and Xingyang counties. It is often said that "the sound of the rooster crowing can be heard from the five counties." Fuxi Mountain is named after Fuxi, the ancestor of Chinese civilization, who taught people silkworms and created the Eight Trigrams.

Red Stone Forest

• Enjoy the wonders of Danxia landform and stone forest

The Red Stone Forest embodies both the rugged and bold aura of northern China and the graceful and elegant charm of southern China. As you walk through it, the stone peaks, pillars, buds, and stalagmites change their appearance, condensing into awe in your eyes.

The winding, rugged mountain road has become a scene within this stone forest. Trees in bloom, pink and yellow... This new look of the mountains in spring is truly captivating...

A new internet-famous check-in spot in the Red Stone Forest Scenic Area, it has a glass corridor and cliff swings that you can go and experience.

The "Skywalk" glass corridor is 360 meters above the canyon floor and extends 30 meters above the cliff. This makes it nearly 9 meters longer than the famous glass corridor at the Grand Canyon, known as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." It's known as the "World's Longest High-Altitude Glass Corridor." Wander through it from a high vantage point and experience the thrill of "Skywalk."

On the side is a cliff swing, and you can choose from 8-meter, 20-meter, 22-meter, and double 8-meter cliff swings. Ride on the cliff swing, the magnet releases, and you fly in the air, feeling the passionate challenge of "life hanging by a thread".

When you walk onto the suspended plank road, you can see the rock forest composed of countless stone peaks, stone pillars, stone buds and stalagmites in the distance, which looks like a bonsai.

Looking at the entire stone forest landscape, it is like stepping into a large natural stone sculpture museum. The Danxia landform and the wonders of the stone forest make people marvel at the wonders of nature.

Baixing Street

• A resting place for leisure and play

There are antique buildings, hundreds of surnames on one street, and thousands of customs. You can enjoy the scenery, taste the food, immerse yourself in the folk customs, and walk into the simple life of the people living in the mountains.

When you come to the Fuxi Mountain Red Stone Forest Scenic Area, the first place you go to is Baixing Street. Why is it named so?

"Bai Xing" is an interpretation of the various surnames in ancient times. Bai Xing Street integrates surname culture, folk customs, cultural and creative products, food, and homestays, allowing tourists to have a place to relax, rest, eat and rest while visiting the scenery.

Cloud Ranch

• A deep embrace with the wilderness

On Fuxi Mountain, located in Xinmi, an ancient city southwest of Zhengzhou, flowers bloom and trees sway. While not as vibrant as the vibrant greenery of midsummer, the mountain still evokes the hazy, gentle beauty of early spring, creating a romantic and tantalizing atmosphere.

Hidden on the top of Fuxi Mountain, which is nearly a thousand meters above sea level, there is a place called "Yunshang Ranch", which covers an area of about 500 acres. It is the first ranch located on the top of a mountain in the Central Plains.

Just listening to it is a pleasant feeling; sitting on the green grass, with the wind blowing from the mountains in your ears, deer running in the woods on one side, and children laughing and playing on the other side, you are instantly back to the innocent days.

Speaking of childhood innocence, Hayao Miyazaki's movies seem to be the most profound existence in our memories of the 1990s. The park also incorporates some animation elements to make people feel as if they are in the story. If you encounter a Totoro by chance, you will truly enter this fairy tale world.

Yunshang Ranch covers many experience projects and is a new generation of animal theme park built according to nature, large populations and large ecology.

As you enter the park, you will see a row of "lollipops" guiding the way. I'm sure children will love them... In addition to being able to play freely, there will definitely be many places to check in and take photos. "Sky Realm", "Candy Lane", "Ladder to Heaven" and so on are all check-in places that you cannot miss if you love taking photos.

After taking photos, we headed to the grassland tribe area, where we could interact with the animals. This must be a paradise for children. Parents can let their children interact with nature and play with the animals without restraint.

There are dozens of species and thousands of animals, including screaming groundhogs, Boer goats, Dutch miniature pigs, Angora rabbits, black swans, etc. These lovely animals are distributed in different parks such as the mysterious area, the elf pika, the grassland tribe, and the Swan Lake.

The Fawn Forest allows you to have an in-depth interaction with the deer in the forest without going to Nara.

The Fallow Deer Forest area occupies a large area of the park. Avoid shouting or rushing to chase the fawns; instead, take your time to search for them. Grab a few fragrant "grass cakes," kneel down, and gently feed the fawns in the forest. Spend time with them tenderly, like old friends, without words—this is the most beautiful encounter.

The entire "Cloud Ranch" tour route takes you from "Candy Lane" along the "Mysterious Zone" to "Swan Lake", to the "Bu Tian Pavilion" to climb up and enjoy the breeze, or to the "Sky Realm" and "Ladder to Heaven" to check in and take photos, then go to the "Grassland Tribe" to interact and play with different small animals, and finally go to the "Deer Forest" to step into a fairy-tale world.

The "Cloud Ranch" on Fuxi Mountain is currently in the trial operation stage and will be grandly opened on April 14. From the start of the trial operation, the East and West Stone Forest viewing areas of the Red Stone Forest will be open to tourists free of charge.

The first 100,000 visitors to Cloud Ranch will each receive a beautiful commemorative hat valued at 58 yuan. While the weather is warm and spring is in full swing, bring your children and enjoy a beautiful and romantic date with nature at Cloud Ranch!

Fuxi Mountain Grand Canyon

• Must-see destinations for established tourists

It takes an hour's drive from Zhengzhou to the Fuxi Mountain Grand Canyon in the northwest of Xinmi. The spring here does not seem to be strong yet, but the gurgling water in the canyon and the blooming flowers on the red rock side of the plank road are clearly announcing that spring is getting closer.

Fuxi Grand Canyon, a National AAAA-level scenic spot, is a canyon landscape dominated by a cluster of typical red rock ravines. The most striking feature of the entire area is its lush vegetation and lush greenery, including dozens of ancient trees over a thousand years old. Among them is the ancient elm tree, known as a "living plant fossil," which is unique to Fuxi Mountain.

The Fuxi Grand Canyon is mainly composed of two parts: Feilong Gorge and Xiaoyao Valley. It is the red stone canyon closest to Zhengzhou and has the largest drop.

Climbing up the steps along the valley entrance, the 5-kilometer tourist route is connected by waterfalls and pools, with gurgling water. You can walk under the cliff corridor and wander among the mountains and rivers. The route is winding and the scenery changes with every step.

The Grand Canyon Scenic Area has water flowing all year round. The valley bottom is filled with waterfalls, cascades, deep pools and calm lakes, which are quiet and cool, with various shapes and beautiful scenery. The waterfalls flow over the huge rocks, which are smooth and flat as if they have been polished. Visitors can enjoy a "rock bath" here. The rocks on both sides of the canyon stand tall, and natural stone steps are suspended in the air on the rock walls. The images of various people and animals are vivid.

Whether it's climbing over boulders to cascade down waterfalls, or the red rock landscape formed over millions of years, you'll feel the majestic power only when you're there in person.

Central Plains and Western Henan Anti-Japanese Memorial Park

• Red Tourism Destinations

About half an hour's drive from Xinmi's Fuxi Mountain Tourist Area brings you to the Central Plains and Western Henan Anti-Japanese War Memorial Park, the most complete and authentic anti-Japanese war site park in Henan Province.

The memorial park was actually renovated from Tianzhongwan Village, a former revolutionary base in the heart of Fuxi Mountain. To better preserve this revolutionary base and pass on the revolutionary spirit from generation to generation, the villagers were relocated from the village. Just to one side of the memorial park is a new residential complex for the villagers. The guide who gave us the tour was a member of the village, and the pride in her words was filled with gratitude and contentment.

Must-sees at the Anti-Japanese Memorial Park include the former headquarters of the Eighth Route Army's Henan-Western Anti-Japanese Advance Detachment and the former site of the field hospital. These two courtyards are considered the largest in the village. Back then, one of these houses was once the home of the landlord brothers Wang Laowu and Wang Laoqi, but was later requisitioned.

Entering the house, a closer look revealed that it was indeed mysterious. The stone house, built of piled stones, appeared to have two floors from the outside. Inside, one discovered that the two floors were separated by several whole wooden planks. The second floor was the boudoir of the landlord's daughter, where she could embroider and sleep.

At that time, there were many bandits in the mountains, and most girls would hide in their homes, looking out from the small windows on the second floor to relieve their boredom. Part of the house was directly connected to the mountain, which also became the back wall of the house.

During the Anti-Japanese War, the Communist Party expropriated the courtyard of landlord Wang Laowu, leaving the central room for him to live in. This room, however, is truly unique. Not only is there a staircase carved into the natural mountainside leading to the second floor, but there's also a hidden passageway for escape and sheltering the wounded. A closer look at this seemingly ordinary courtyard reveals a surprising amount of wisdom and wonder hidden within.

As the "rich" in the village at that time, the landlords' houses have been preserved for more than 300 years to this day. They are warm in winter and cool in summer. Looking back now, the wisdom of the people at that time still makes us amazed and unimaginable.

Tianzhongwan Village, surrounded by mountains and boasting complex terrain, has been a battleground for military strategists since ancient times. After General Pi Dingjun established the Central Plains and Western Henan Anti-Japanese Base Area, social and economic development led to improvements in transportation and information isolation in this old revolutionary base area. Mountain roads were built, improving the lives of villagers and allowing outsiders to understand and appreciate the stories and unforgettable revolutionary spirit that once took place here.
