Day 1 Huangshan North Station → Xieli → Tachuan → Huangshan Scenic Area South Gate

13:00

Gather at Huangshan North Station and depart for Tachuan at 13:30 on time.

2:30 PM

We will pass by the high slope viewing point at the entrance of Hongcun Tunnel, get off the bus and make a short stop to climb up to the viewing point to overlook Xieli. This is a recommended photography spot for taking pictures of Xieli, the "colorful world". Let's use this hidden and wild Huizhou village to kick off our poetic journey.

We'll gather in time and continue to Tachuan, a small village bathed in autumn colors. The tallow trees planted by ancient people at the entrance and surrounding areas of Tachuan village transform from green to yellow, then red, creating a vibrant display of color after the frost. In the afternoon sun, the mountains are blanketed in autumn leaves, shading the pink walls and black tiles. We'll delve into Tachuan to savor its stunning autumn scenery, one of China's ten great autumn colors. Witness the shifting hues of gold, orange, pale crimson, and orange-red, all simultaneously reflected in a single tree.

5:00 PM

In the evening, we drove to Tangkou Town, just outside the south gate of Huangshan Scenic Area, to stay overnight. We took some photos of the day and had a good rest before heading up Huangshan early tomorrow morning.

Day 3 Tunxi → Chengkan → Huangshan North Station

08:30

No need to get up too early today, so get some rest to relieve yesterday's fatigue. After breakfast, we'll depart for Chengkan (approximately a 1-hour drive). Along the way, we'll pass by Shuyuan Lingshan, where you'll admire the layers of terraced fields and tiled houses. The contrast between the mountains and water and the whitewashed walls and black tiles is particularly beautiful.

09:30

Arrive at the Chengkan Scenic Area, formerly known as Longxi, and first established during the Eastern Han and Three Kingdoms periods. The ancient Huizhou region has a humid climate, and in autumn, villagers would dry their harvest in front of and behind their houses and in open spaces. The vibrant red, yellow, and green colors of corn, peppers, and pumpkins add a touch of playfulness to the village's ink-and-wash aesthetic. After admiring the paintings of people drying their crops in the sun in southern Anhui, follow the guided tour to explore the village's well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, including the exquisite painted wood carvings of Baolun Pavilion.

11:30

At noon, everyone was free to find food in Chengkan, and after the meal we took a bus back to Huangshan North Station.

1:30 PM

Arrived at Huangshan North Station, reluctant to leave, but returned home with great excitement, and promised to see you next year~

Driving time: Chengkan to Huangshan North Station, about 20 minutes

Huangshan, formerly known as Yishan, was renamed Huangshan in the Tang Dynasty and is now part of Huangshan City. Hailed as a national treasure and a wonder of the world, Huangshan Scenic Area has become a symbol of the Chinese nation's magnificent landscape. Its three main peaks, Lotus, Bright Summit, and Heavenly Capital, all rise over 1,800 meters above sea level. Huangshan combines the grandeur of Mount Tai, the precipitousness of Mount Hua, the misty clouds of Mount Heng, the cascading waterfalls of Mount Lu, the intricate rocks of Yandang, and the beauty of Mount Emei. It is particularly renowned for its four unique features: unusual pines, grotesque rocks, seas of clouds, and hot springs. Huangshan is a national key scenic spot and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990.

Xieli is known as the colorful world of China and is suitable for visiting all year round. The autumn scenery is particularly charming. The high slope of Hongcun Tunnel Entrance and the Mukeng Observation Deck are ideal places for viewing and photographing.

Tachuan County, Anhui Province, nestled in the mountainous region of southern Anhui Province, offers a picturesque and unique autumn landscape of trees, fields, and villages. Known as one of China's three great autumn sights, Tachuan County's autumn scenery is as renowned as Beijing's Xiangshan Mountain and Jiuzhaigou Valley. In late autumn, a thin mist shrouds the trees, making them appear and disappear. Farmhouses loom, their eaves and corners suddenly peeking out from among the crimson maples. Pink walls and black tiles, shaded by golden leaves, create a scene reminiscent of a Chinese landscape painting.

Chengkan, located at the southern foot of the Huangshan Scenic Area in Anhui Province, a World Natural and Cultural Heritage Site, is a national 5A-level tourist attraction. Nestled among lush mountains and verdant bamboo, Chengkan boasts a blend of natural and cultural attractions. Anciently known as Longxi, Chengkan was originally under the jurisdiction of She County, the capital of Huizhou. In the late Tang Dynasty, cousins Luo Tianzhen and Luo Tianzhi of Nanchang Prefecture, Jiangxi Province, relocated their family to She County. They chose a site forty miles northwest, named Longxi, and renamed it Chengkan. They built a house and settled there. Since the Song Dynasty, Chengkan has seen the rise of Huizhou merchants and flourished cultural and educational institutions, establishing a unique presence in the cultural and historical development of Huizhou.
