Dajiu Lake covers an area of over 30,000 mu and is 1,700 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by flat plains in the middle and towering mountains on all sides. Such virgin plains are extremely rare in the Shennongjia mountains, where "there are mountains everywhere and the ground is flat for more than three feet."
