When autumn arrives, Beijing transforms into a solemn "paradise on earth." Clear skies, light clouds, and a hint of coolness punctuate the air, but the scenery only gets more stunning! When it comes to Beijing's crimson leaves, Fragrant Hills Park is renowned, but the Forbidden City's autumn colors are also worth a visit. If you're looking for a relaxing autumn getaway without the crowds, here are five recommended spots.
Pofengling is a representative autumn viewing spot in the suburbs of Beijing. Located 3 kilometers northwest of Huangshandian Village, Zhoukoudian Town, Fangshan District, Beijing, it is adjacent to Yuxu Palace on Baojin Mountain in Beijing. The scenery here is unique, with winding stone paths and crimson leaves along the way. Looking up, the forests are shimmering in crimson, while overhead, the peaks are shrouded in mist. The crimson, unlike that of Fragrant Hill, is a dazzling crimson dotted with yellow, orange, and green, like a painter's painting. Here, visitors can not only admire the crimson leaves blanketing the mountains, but also ascend to pray for blessings and harvest the fruits of the autumn harvest.

The scenery of Pofengling is colorful, with a gentle breeze blowing on your face. The mountain is covered with red leaves, intertwined among the leaves, and fallen leaves lie gently on the road. It is a picturesque landscape.


Labagou Primeval Forest Park covers a total area of 90 square kilometers, with 60 kilometers of sightseeing trails, including three distinct viewing areas: Nanhouling, Baizhang Cliff, and Glacier. With an average altitude of 700-1700 meters, the park boasts a rich flora and fauna, vast forests, pure air, and breathtaking scenery.

In spring, you can see the vibrant alpine rhododendrons; in summer, you can enjoy the cool climate of the high-altitude forests; in autumn, you can admire the colorful autumn leaves all over the mountains and stroll with your friends on the tree-lined avenue covered with a thick layer of fallen leaves. It is undoubtedly a tourist destination for natural ecological sightseeing, summer vacation, flower viewing and leaf appreciation.

The area of wild birch forest in Beijing with autumn colors is second to none, and it is a must-visit place for autumn viewing, mountain climbing and picnics in northern Beijing.

Not only are there crimson leaves covering the mountains here, but you can also see the Badaling Great Wall in the distance and the remains of the Great Wall up close. The crimson leaves and the Great Wall complement each other, creating a breathtaking spectacle of autumn beauty in northern China.

Shangfangshan also boasts numerous ancient caves, nine of which are truly remarkable. Chief among them is Yunshui Cave, one of the earliest karst caves opened in North my country. The stone bells, drums, and harps within the caves can produce melodious music, leaving visitors in awe at the wonders of nature.

The Strange Rock Mountain is covered with rocks of all sizes and shapes, like meteorites scattered across the mountain. Some form pillars, some peaks, some buds, and some screens, with clear edges and corners, and they stand out prominently.

Autumn begins earlier in northern China, typically from September 26th to November 5th. The best time to see the red leaves is mid-October. After November, the weather turns colder, making it less suitable for viewing.
Autumn has always been my favorite season; it's neither too hot nor too cold, with just the right temperature.
