Preface

Who wouldn't want to experience a balmy 20-degree weather during the coldest months? Today, we recommend seven stunning islands in Guangdong Province, both well-known and lesser-known. Pick a suitable time, pack your bags, and go!

-Nan'ao Island-

Nan'ao Island is the only island in China designated a national 4A-level tourist attraction. With its clear waters, white sand, turquoise ocean, and affordable and delicious seafood, it's a perfect vacation destination. Over 1,400 species of tropical and subtropical plants and a diverse wildlife population thrive on the island. A bird island, 3.9 nautical miles from the main island, serves as a nature reserve for migratory birds. It's well worth a visit.

Han Han's new movie "Four Seas", which will be released on the first day of the Lunar New Year in 2022, was filmed here. The most unmissable thing on the entire island is the ring road, which has a lighthouse, fishing stalls, an uninhabited small beach, windmills, grasslands... It's so cool to run and ride here.

Tips:

Recommended check-in spots: Qian'ao Bay Lighthouse - Sancongya Lighthouse - Changshanwei - Tropic of Cancer Square

Transportation on the island: There are shared electric vehicles on the island, which can be ridden for about 50 kilometers on a full charge and require a deposit of 199.

-East-West Rush-

Dongchong, once named one of China's 10 most beautiful coastlines by World Geographic, offers Shenzhen's bluest beaches, nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Its fine sand is perfect for swimming and playing beach volleyball. Xichong, one of China's eight most beautiful beaches and Shenzhen's largest, stretches 10 miles between two mountains. Its crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming and a relaxing vacation.

Hiking along the coastline, with the endless blue sea on one side and walking on the rocks, I felt as if I was abroad.

If you have time, stay a night by the beach and you can see the most beautiful sunrise and sunset over the sea in Shenzhen. It is very suitable for couples and families to relax on the weekend.

Tips:

Recommended hiking routes:

① Tung Chung Pier - Observatory, takes 3-4 hours, free

②Xichong Beach-Observatory, takes 1 hour, 30 yuan/person

-Conch Horn-

There are many very primitive and magnificent coastlines on the Huidong Peninsula, 200 kilometers away from Guangzhou. Conch Cape is a coastline on this peninsula. Few people come here, and the coastline is covered with conchs that are not found on other coastlines, hence the name.

Starting from the Pinghai Power Plant in Huidong, the route goes along the rugged seashore, over large rocks, across the trenches, and finally reaches the Mozi Stone Beach. This large chimney is one of the symbols of this route. There are 5 beautiful, almost undeveloped, original beaches along the way, with fine, crystal clear sand.

-Qiaoao Island-

Located in Zhuhai, this truly undiscovered island offers a striking photo opportunity reminiscent of Kenting. The island is conveniently located close to the city center and accessible by bridge, eliminating the need for a boat. Nearly all attractions on the island are free.

Tips:

Recommended check-in spots: Baishi Street - "Sea Forest" Qi'ao Mangrove Wetland - Qisha Bay, a popular lighthouse

Transportation on the island: Bicycles can be rented for 50 yuan, no time limit, no deposit required

- Lion Island -

Huizhou's Lion Island, also known as the "Little Kamakura of Guangdong," is a truly pristine, undeveloped island with few people and stunning scenery. Why is it called Lion Island? The island's numerous rocks resemble a crouching lion from a distance, and the surrounding area is covered in Masson pine trees, creating a unique landscape.

Tips:

Recommended check-in spots: Pinghai Power Plant - Coastal Beach - Baishigang - Lengshuikeng - Niuwan

Transportation: Self-driving in Guangzhou takes about 3 hours. Public transportation requires transfer in Huidong. You can also charter a car.

-Hailing Island-

Hailing Island, known as the "Hawaii of the East," boasts an indescribably blue sea that you'll never know until you see it with your own eyes. No entrance fee is required, and the beach is incredibly clean, perfect for taking photos.

Don't miss the sunset at Big Horn Bay. Take a walk on the beach in the evening, watch the sunset, and step on the clear sea water. It's so comfortable.

Tips:

Recommended check-in spots: Shili Silver Beach - Dajiao Bay - Tianlu Mountain and Sea Summit Park - Beiluo Bay - Skyline Swimming Pool - Mawei Island - Oriental Silver Beach

Transportation on the island: You can directly scan the code to ride a shared tram

-Naqin Peninsula-

Known as a new internet-famous check-in spot, it's nicknamed "Guangdong's Little Greece." Enjoy the romance of the Aegean Sea without having to leave the country—isn't that enough to tempt you? Here, you'll find fine natural beaches, breathtaking bays, unique rock formations, the occasional leaping dolphin, and a vibrant Mediterranean photography destination, perfect for capturing stunning photos in no time!
