Northeast China's Autumn Scenery | The only place in China comparable to Northern Xinjiang! The vibrant forests are like stepping into a Van Gogh painting!

Preface

“It’s midsummer, and suddenly it’s already autumn.” Who would have thought? While we’re still sweltering in sweltering temperatures of 40°C, some parts of China have already entered autumn!

While You Xiaoxia was still cheering for the fact that "the temperature will drop to 38℃ soon", the areas in China that felt the autumn first had already welcomed the cool autumn (they haven't experienced a hot summer either), which made people all over the country envious.

As the long summer fades, the mountains and plains begin to take on the colors of autumn. The captivating golden hues that gradually shift from north to south add a touch of charm to the vast landscapes of our motherland. Today, You Xiaoxia has decided to share this long-held autumn viewing spot with us—it's the only place in China that can rival the autumn colors of northern Xinjiang!

This is not Canada, but there are still maple leaves that illuminate the sky red. More than 120 species of maple trees form a colorful autumn kingdom.

This is not Japan, but it also has the volcanic Tianchi Lake and deer that are not inferior to Mount Fuji and Nara Park.

The dreamy Greater Khingan Range, China's most beautiful "Maple Leaf Capital", the red beach with plump crabs...this is the Northeast!

Her autumn is a romance that belongs privately to a small group of people. Being in it is so beautiful that it feels like walking into a Van Gogh painting.

Here you can find the earliest autumn colors in China

The Northeast often seems to be associated with ice and snow. But in reality, the most colorful and beautiful season in the Northeast is autumn. Autumn in the Northeast boasts magnificent, vibrant mountains and forests, and the earliest red maple leaves.

As the autumn wind rises from the sprawling Greater Khingan Range, the spirit of autumn quietly spreads across this rugged landscape. It traverses dense jungles, sweeps across vast grasslands, reaches the summit of Changbai Mountain, and flows across the Liaodong Peninsula, bringing a rich and vibrant palette of autumn colors to the Northeast.

She is so beautiful, yet still ignored by many people. When everyone goes to Xinjiang and Sichuan to look for autumn, You Xiaoxia wants to take you to the Northeast, because here you can also find the "reddest" autumn colors in China!

For those who haven’t gone out for the entire summer, why not be the first to see the autumn colors?

Liaodong, come and enjoy the maple leaves in the "Maple Leaf Capital of China"!

When it comes to maple viewing, many people first think of Kyoto's red leaf viewing or Canada's Maple Leaf Avenue. But did you know that in Liaodong, China, lies the "Maple Leaf Capital" of China?

01. Benxi

Benxi, just an hour's drive from Shenyang, is Northeast China's most renowned autumn viewing destination. With a river flowing through the city and surrounded by high mountains, Benxi's temperate monsoon climate nourishes it, making it known as "Asia's most beautiful maple leaf viewing area."

With the arrival of autumn, people always travel thousands of miles to enjoy this feast of autumn colors. Benxi has 265,000 mu of maple trees, making it one of the largest in China! The Benhuang Highway, known as the "Most Beautiful Maple Leaf Highway," becomes busy in autumn.

When the autumn wind blows through the treetops, the maple leaves begin to change color one after another. People come to Guanmen Mountain and Benxi Water Cave to admire the maple leaves. Wandering along the China Maple Leaf Avenue, autumn is everywhere you look.

When the frost of late autumn caresses the mountains, dotted with secluded pavilions, brewing a pot of tea and listening to a piece of music, the rich poetic atmosphere will make your imagination run wild. Coming to Benxi in autumn is like stepping into a colorful painting.

02. Panjin Red Beach

If you've ever looked up "must-see attractions in China" online, you're no stranger to the Red Beach at the mouth of the Liaohe River. This beach is paved with delicate stands of Suaeda salsa, a species of grass uniquely suited to surviving in saline-alkali soil.

It grows out of the ground in April every year, initially appearing as tender red and gradually turning darker. From September to October every year, this wetland enters its best season.

The 18-kilometer-long red coastline is a rare landscape in the world. It was once rated as "one of the six most beautiful wetlands in China" by National Geographic Magazine.

Along the winding plank road, vibrant red Suaeda trees spread out like a soft red carpet. No matter which direction you look, you're surrounded by a fiery crimson. Swaying gracefully in the breeze, the trees create a magnificent and romantic atmosphere.

As the view expands, in the distance there are birds flying across the sky, and underfoot the golden reeds and rice ears sway like waves.

When you come here, you must try the rice field crabs. Panjin has a vast rice planting base, and the mixed breeding model of "crab and rice symbiosis" has cultivated river crabs that are different from other species.

Rice field crabs grow in alkaline natural waters, eating small fish and shrimps in the water and bathing in the fragrance of rice flowers. Long-term and continuous exercise makes their meat firmer and more oily.

With the arrival of autumn, crab fat and roe harvest season arrives. The rice paddy crabs' meat is distinctly shredded, dripping with oil, and their roe is plump and juicy, a delight to the taste buds. If you visit Panjin in autumn, don't miss the plump rice paddy crabs at Red Beach!

In Inner Mongolia, encounter a romantic golden fairy tale

In midsummer, this is the most beautiful place to escape the heat; in autumn, it is a fascinating fairy tale world. It is the only place in China that can rival the autumn colors of northern Xinjiang.

Every year in mid-September, when the first green leaves on the branches turn yellow, the autumn colors spread across the earth like flames, spreading across the grasslands and forests, with a beauty that makes people intoxicated.

01. Hulunbuir

Hulunbuir in September is a warm orange autumn. On the boundless golden grassland, herders sing folk songs, herd herds of cattle and sheep, and beat the grass into half-human-high haystacks that are scattered neatly on the hillside.

Walking into the birch forest, compared to the emerald green of summer, the autumn forest is a little more romantic.

The path is covered with golden fallen leaves, and the deciduous forest area is so beautiful under the sunlight that it feels like walking into a Van Gogh painting.

Arriving at Ergun, we find the most intact and largest wetland in my country, which was once known as "the No. 1 wetland in Asia".

When autumn arrives, people can see the wetlands at their most beautiful. Under the magic of nature, the once monotonous wetlands suddenly become colorful.

Head to the Root and Source Wetland, known as the "Natural Museum of China's Coldest Wetlands." Admire the gurgling water, vibrant autumn leaves, and withered trees lining the river valley as you admire the forest valley deep within the Greater Khingan Range.

Deep in the Greater Khingan Range, the Ewenki people still continue to hunt and herd reindeer. Visit the Aoluguya tribe and get close to those adorable reindeer.

The reindeer in the forest are resting their heads on the golden sunlight, like elves from fairyland. Deep in the forest, everything is so quiet and peaceful, as if in a dream.

02. Arxan

Arshan, located at 47° north latitude, is the world's high-quality volcanic water source. It has geological landscapes of various forms, such as sky pools, ground pools, and lava canyons, which tell us the secrets of volcanoes.

The springs meander continuously, the forests are dyed with autumn yellow, and the autumn fairy tale is beautifully depicted by Arshan. The combination of volcanoes and forests is a unique landscape of Arshan in autumn.

The most beautiful scenery is on the road. There is a dream highway that you must take - the Mo'a Highway, a 271-kilometer forest highway that passes through forest areas, pastures, wetlands and rivers.

Along the way, there is the otherworldly beauty of grazing cattle and sheep, the dazzling beauty of colorful scenes, and the lively beauty of the singing of orioles in the woods.

The scenery around the highway is colorful. It is a road with a story and also a colorful golden autumn gallery of hundreds of miles.

03. Mordaoga National Park

Mordaoga National Park, located in the heart of Greater Khingan Range, is the largest forest park in China. It is known as the "hometown of larch" and is the best place to view red leaves every autumn.

There is also a retro-style steam train in the scenic area. You can take a ride on the train through the primeval forest and experience a romantic autumn fairy tale.

Heading north, near the Mordaoga Forest Park, there are two slender islands nestled together, named Bailu Island.

Tall birch trees grow alongside low shrubs on the island, and the "Ω"-shaped peninsula, like a pearl embedded in the forest, makes one marvel at the wonders of nature.

04. Qiqian Village

The most eye-catching place should be Qiquan Village. 99.9% of tourists have never been there, but its autumn scenery is not inferior to Kanas in Xinjiang.

Surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing water on one side, there are only 8 households left in the village, hiding the lonely beauty of this autumn.

Golden grass, dense jungle, loose fences in front of wooden houses, curling smoke from rooftops...what a picture of a paradise lost in the world.

05. Korchin Udantala

Since ancient times, the red maple leaves in autumn have been a symbol of people's deep longing, so every autumn, people always flock to places where they can enjoy the maple leaves.

The Daiqintala maple on the Inner Mongolia Plateau is as gentle and delicate as the red maple in the south, but also has the bold and rugged style of the north.

Compared with the maple trees in Daiqintala, the maple trees in Wudantala, located in Horqin Left Rear Banner, are taller and thicker. It is said that some of the trees are over 500 years old.

The maple trees have stood tall for centuries amidst the ravages of raging sandstorms. In the golden autumn, they are even more dazzling and diverse, each possessing its own unique presence. Strong, mysterious, open, and unassuming, they attract countless people to approach them.

Dreamy Daxinganling, the most beautiful forest and the northernmost feelings

Gentle hills float, the forest is vast, and the Greater Khingan Range spans the northern part of Heilongjiang. The autumn here is free and pure.

Take the train all the way north, shuttle through the mountains covered with colorful forests, and look out the window at the intoxicating colors of golden autumn. The train will take you to the most beautiful autumn.

Here you can find stunningly vast forests, heartwarming border sentiments, the "Arctic of China," and rare wild animals and birds that thrive and reproduce in the forest.

01. Mohe

Mohe, located at the northernmost tip of the motherland, is the first place in China to smell the autumn. Most people come here for the winter snow or the aurora they may encounter in the summer.

But the Arctic Village is really beautiful in autumn. The birch forest in September is golden, and walking in the forest is like walking into a fairy tale world.

A stroll through the Greater Khingan Range feels like a golden palace. Join us as we check in at the "Northernmost Boundary Monument," send greetings to distant friends at the "Northernmost Post Office," explore the First Bend of the Heilongjiang River, and discover the "Northernmost Point" along the Ussuri River.

02. Wudalianchi

Passing through the golden birch forest, you will reach Wudalianchi, which covers a total area of 1,050 square kilometers. It is shrouded in clouds and mist and looks like a fairyland.

The Wudalianchi volcanic group last erupted 200 years ago. Today, this land has long since transformed from the "Great Northern Wilderness" into the Great Northern Granary, with volcanoes, lakes, and mineral springs, making it like a giant natural sanatorium.

Changbai Mountain, the Song of Ice and Fire of Volcanoes and Tianchi Lake

As the most sacred mountain in Kanto, Changbai Mountain is the birthplace of the Manchu and Korean ethnic groups. It gave birth to the three major rivers of Yalu River, Songhua River and Tumen River, and has a well-preserved ecological environment.

Every autumn, the branches and leaves of different tree species begin to change colors, reflecting the snow-capped mountains in the distance, creating a colorful and pure fairy tale world.

If you are looking for the blue that rivals the Tibetan area, try to come in September or October. The clear and crisp autumn weather makes it easiest to see Tianchi.

The forest is vast and the fruits are fragrant. The red maples, green pines and yellow birches complement each other, forming a colorful oil painting. This is the autumn of Changbai Mountain.

Conclusion

Similar climatic conditions give this area autumn colors that rival those of northern Xinjiang. However, this stunning color only lasts a short time on this land. This autumn, join us for a magnificent colorful feast.
