Surrounded by the mountains of western Hubei, lies a pristine forest stretching over 3,000 square kilometers. Shennongjia—a place whose very name exudes a sense of antiquity and mystery—unfolds the miracle of life amidst towering peaks and vast forests.
Shennongjia Forest Area is the only "green island" in central China that has not been developed on a large scale. It is also the first heritage site in my country to be included in the "Triple Crown" list of UNESCO's three major protection systems: Man and Biosphere Reserve, World Geopark, and World Heritage. It was rated as a "must-see place in this lifetime" by National Geographic.

The entire area is sparsely populated. There are no scenic wooden plank roads, no commercial signboards, only moss-covered boulders, twisted and tangled ancient trees (some of which are over a thousand years old) and vines that block out the sun.

Stepping into the forests here feels like stepping into a world straight out of the Classic of Mountains and Seas. Shennongjia's alpine meadows, perched on mountain ridges at an altitude of nearly 3,000 meters, resemble a giant carpet laid by nature. Unlike the plain meadows, they offer a sense of grandeur, while unlike the plateau meadows, they lack the constraints of oxygen deprivation.

Day 1: Gathering in Yichang all day
Day 2: Yichang – Yunpan Conservation Station – Rhododendron Forest (7km hike, approximately 1000m ascent)
Day 3: Rhododendron Forest – Laojun Peak – Laojun Village – Primeval Forest – Shuimowuchang Camp (12km hike, 500m descent)
Day 4: Shuimowuchang Campsite – Caiqi Conservation Station – Yichang (6km hike, 550m descent)
