Wuyue Ancient Road · Vast Divine Pond | East China's classic ancient road, visit Tianchi Lake and explore the Immortal Cave

Day 1 Shanghai → Ningguo → Xianren Cave

07:15

Meet at the designated meeting point of China-TravelNote and sign in.

07:30

Depart on time, with interactive onboard activities and itinerary introductions, and lots of laughter along the way!

12:30

We arrived at the Ningguo Wuyue Ancient Road, had lunch at a farmhouse at the foot of the mountain, checked in, took a short rest, listened carefully to the guide's explanation of precautions, and then set off.

After a short rest after the meal, the team leader led everyone to do some preparation work.

Depart for the entrance of Xianren Cave, where you'll find vibrant stalactites in a variety of shapes. Explore the cave in the darkness, discovering the unique natural landscapes of each section. The main entrance is narrow, requiring you to bend down to enter. Wade through a small stream to reach the "Xianren Temple," where bats roost. Don't disturb them; they won't bite. The cave is dark, so be sure to bring a headlamp. The stalactites are low inside, so there's a risk of bumping into them.

4:00 PM

Returning to the local farmhouse, a delicious meal awaits everyone. Afterward, enjoy a complimentary bonfire party hosted by China-TravelNote. In the evening, everyone gathers around the bonfire, singing and dancing, playing games, singing, bragging, and enjoying the outdoors!

Driving time: Anhui to Ningguo County, about 5 hours

Hiking: The round trip for caving is about 6km

Note: The bonfire is free and will not be refunded if canceled due to weather conditions.
Bring your own tent; a 20 yuan per person fee (including campsite fees and breakfast) will be charged on site
. Camping is on the concrete floor in front of the farmhouse and on the rooftop. Accommodation is available for those who prefer accommodation.

Day 2 Wuyue Ancient Road → Tianchi Lake in Western Zhejiang → Tianlong Grand Canyon → Shanghai

07:30

We set off after breakfast. Today’s journey is long, so we set off early and head up along the Wu Yue Ancient Trail.

Go up the stone steps of the Wuyue Ancient Road, accompanied by streams all the way, waterfalls playing in the winding paths, ups and downs, the unity of heaven, earth and man, as if you are traveling in a painting.

12:00

At noon, we arrived at Tianchi Lake in western Zhejiang, located at an altitude of 1,100 meters. The lake covers an area of 567,000 square meters, with clear, deep blue waters that blend seamlessly with the sky. Surrounded by gently sloping hills, the view is expansive. This area is also the primary habitat for wild sika deer, a Class I protected species. The favorable natural environment attracts a wealth of wildlife, and with luck, we might even spot sika deer and mountain goats.

Standing by the lake, gazing out into the distance, one feels a sense of relaxation and delight. The calm waters, vast and serene, are a vibrant turquoise, crystal clear and refreshing, a breathtaking sight to dabble in. Mirrored by the setting sun and moon, they resemble a gigantic mirror. Feel free to pose for stunning photos.

After lunch by Tianchi Lake, we went all the way to Leli Peak, which is the boundary mountain between Lin'an, Zhejiang and Ningguo, Anhui. If you don't climb Leli Peak, you will have wasted your time walking the Wu Yue Ancient Trail. From the top of the peak, you can see all the other mountains.

White reeds, bundles of white grass, and reeds in the west wind. It's autumn again. You never know what kind of mood you'll find on the summit. At Leli Peak, 1,363 meters above sea level, the autumn breeze soothes the mountains. Reeds are in full bloom all over the mountain. Autumn on the Wuyue Ancient Road blossoms alongside these reeds.

Note: (Leli Peak summit is a random event. If the ranger cannot reach the summit, the original itinerary will be changed to the descent through the Western Zhejiang Grand Canyon. The itinerary is as follows:)

Walking through the forests of Tianlong Grand Canyon, walking briskly along the main ancient path, which is dominated by bluestone terraces, is a refreshing experience. The entire route is dominated by the color of blue. In the spring season or when the forests gradually turn red, you may occasionally encounter colorful wildflowers that are difficult to name. From time to time, stone bridges appear one after another. The total length is about 5 kilometers, and the whole way is full of gurgling water and beautiful scenery.

Due to the changeable climate in autumn and winter, the viewing experience of rime and snow may vary from batch to batch. Please participate in the event with a positive attitude to appreciate the diverse changes of nature.

1:30 PM

Arriving at the exit of the Wu Yue Ancient Road heading towards Zhejiang, we took a car back to the bus stop.

7:00 PM

When we returned to the starting point in the city, everyone was still reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in their eyes.

Driving time: Ningguo to Shanghai, about 6 hours

Hiking: Today's total distance is about 11km, with a total climb of about 1000m, mainly on cobblestone and dirt roads

Note: Due to the recent surge in tourists, the local government has recently banned climbing Leli Peak and the possibility of returning to Tianchi Lake after crossing the route. Visitors can still hike to enjoy the scenery at Tianchi Lake, and the itinerary remains unchanged.

1.Why didn’t I receive a text message notification after registering?

2. What if it rains during the event?

2-3 days before the event, we will decide whether the event will proceed as scheduled based on the weather forecast and route conditions. Please pay attention to our notifications. Most activities can proceed as usual even if there is light rain. There is still fun to be had on rainy days. If heavy rain is forecast, the event will be cancelled and a full refund will be given to everyone.

3. Is this route crowded?

Most of our routes are natural and niche, with relatively small traffic. Of course, it also depends on the registration situation for each period. Generally, ordinary models are 37-seat buses, and a few large models are 53-seat. Each car has a certain proportion of tour leaders to ensure the quality of the event.

The Wuyue Ancient Road is a triple fusion of a historical corridor, an ecological treasure house, and a hiking paradise:

Step on the bluestone slabs of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, and touch the memory of the war at Qianqing Pass;

Wander in the secret forests of East China's top-level, encounter sika deer and the alpine Tianchi Lake;

Explore the Fairy Cave and take a glimpse of the vast Divine Pool to experience a different outdoor scenery.

It was selected as one of the "Top Ten Ancient Trails in China" and the "Most Beautiful Forest Ancient Trail" in the joint evaluation of the International Ancient Trails Network, China National Tourism Magazine and other institutions.

Stepping into two provinces, you can experience the thousand-year-old scenery at your feet—this classic and treasured ancient road is waiting for your exploration.
