Day 2 Yichang → Three Gorges Dam → Three Gorges People

·morning

After breakfast, we set off for the Three Gorges Dam Scenic Area.

Located in the middle of the Xiling Gorge, it is one of the world's largest hydropower projects. We first visited Tanziling, the highest point of the Three Gorges Dam, offering panoramic views of the Three Gorges Project. From here, we can admire the magnificent Three Gorges Dam, a bird's-eye view of the dam, and the twin, five-stage ship locks of the "Fourth Gorge of the Yangtze River." We can also overlook the beautiful Huangniu Rock in Xiling Gorge.

Then head to the 185 Observation Deck, named after its altitude, which is 185 meters higher than the top of the Three Gorges Dam. Here you can get close to the majestic Three Gorges Dam.

Afterward, we visited the Damming River Diversion Memorial Park. You'll definitely never see such massive construction machinery! This is China's first water conservancy project theme park. Dedicated to the Three Gorges Damming River diversion project, it features displays of the project's ruins, large-scale construction machinery, and more. This vividly recreates the thrill of the Three Gorges Dam diversion project, allowing us to experience the excitement of the era firsthand.

·afternoon

Then we'll go to the Three Gorges Family, located in the Xiling Gorge, which was once a very dangerous section of the Yangtze River Three Gorges. After the completion of the Three Gorges Dam, the canyon landscape has changed significantly. We'll cross the beautiful Dengying Gorge.

We first took a boat to the Three Gorges Family Scenic Area Inn to check in, then headed to Longjin Creek, where we could take photos of the ancient sailing boats and sculpted boats. We encountered a beautiful Three Gorges girl standing at the bow of the boat, and the green mountains and clear waters formed such a beautiful scene. We took photos while sailing, which was extremely pleasant.

Photograph the Three Gorges sunset in the evening (depending on weather conditions).

Today we will stay in the scenic area. You can also go out for a walk in the evening to experience the beauty of Xiling Gorge. Return to the inn in the evening and have a good rest to prepare for the next day's shooting!

Driving distance: about 80 kilometers, about two hours

Day 3 Three Gorges Home → Wuxia Entrance

·morning

In the morning, you can get up early and take photos of the canyon scenery around the inn.

After breakfast, we will go to Bawangzhai. Legend has it that Bawangzhai was built by the ancient Ba people who hid in the mountains to avoid war. They built stone castles and occupied the mountains as kings, gradually establishing the mysterious Ba Kingdom and leaving behind Bawangzhai.

The living scenes of the Ba people in those days were restored as much as possible here, and performances of Ba people's customs were designed. We visited and photographed the Ba people's culture and customs and the stilt houses.

Tips: Bawangzhai requires a one-way climb of about 20 minutes, with steps; you can also take the elevator up the mountain and the cable car down the mountain at your own expense.

·afternoon

After lunch, we will head to Wuxiakou to photograph the sunset and the golden Yangtze River.

It guards the entrance to the Wu Gorge, one of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. Known for its rugged beauty, it offers stunning views of the Yangtze River and a chance to experience a connection between the mountains and the sea.

We walked across the glass sky bridge and looked out at the Wu Gorge from the 360-degree glass observation deck. This is the top of the Wu Gorge, 1,100 meters above sea level. It is the first 90-degree right-angle turn on the Yangtze River and is known as the "First Turn of the Yangtze River". It is also the location where the background pattern of the 5-yuan note of the fourth set of RMB was taken.

From the viewing platform, you can see the mountains and rivers, feel the magnificence and vastness, and savor the tranquility.

Tips: The sunset is subject to the weather on that day

Driving distance: about 250 kilometers, about five hours

Hiking: There is a staircase trail at the top of Bawangzhai Mountain, which takes about 20 minutes one way. You can go up and down the mountain by elevator or cable car at your own expense.

Day 4 Wuxiakou → Top of the Three Gorges → Baidi Town

·morning

If you get up early today, you can look for a sunrise camera at the entrance of Wuxia Gorge (depending on the weather).

After breakfast, we will go to the Three Gorges Summit Scenic Area, which is named after Du Fu's poem "Red armor and white salt pierce the sky, and the streets and houses are connected to the mountain top. Maple groves and orange trees are painted in red and blue, and the corridors and towers are decorated with brocade." It mainly includes the Baidi City and Qutang Gorge Scenic Area.

This morning, we visited the Qutang Gorge Scenic Area, the summit of the Three Gorges. This is the highest point in the Three Gorges, both physically and visually, and the most beautiful. Every year during the transition from autumn to winter, the summit of the Three Gorges is ablaze with vibrant colors. From here, overlooking Kuimen, you can enjoy the clear waters of the river and the vibrant colors of the Three Gorges.

·afternoon

After lunch, we'll head to the Baidicheng Scenic Area, atop the Three Gorges. Stronger-staminaed tourists can climb to the Baidi Temple and visit the remains of Liu Bei's entrustment of his son to his care during the Three Kingdoms period.

Near the river bank and the back mountain of Baidi City, you will encounter many wild monkeys along the way (please do not feed them to prevent them from stealing your food). As you walk among the magnificent mountains and rivers, if you are lucky, you may even hear the calls of monkeys. Looking at the boats on the river, you will finally understand the reality of what Li Bai wrote here: "The monkeys on both sides of the river are crying incessantly, and the light boat has passed through thousands of mountains."

Climb up to the Baidi Temple and visit the scene of Yong'an entrusting his son to his parents. You can also overlook Kuimen from here.

Afterwards, we will take close-up photos of Kuimen, go deep into the mountain paths, take photos of the red leaves and the scenery of Qutang Gorge, and then go to the shooting location of the fifth edition of the 10-yuan RMB. We will wait for the sunset and may even encounter monkeys, and experience the artistic conception of "the monkey's cry three times makes me cry".

At Kuimen, I watched the sun slowly set, its glow reflected on the water. Together with the photos taken the day before at the mouth of Wu Gorge, they completed my multi-angled Three Gorges sunset experience.

Kuimen, the western gate of the Three Gorges, stands at the entrance to Qutang Gorge, like a giant sluice gate towering over the river. Du Fu wrote in his poem, "The Baidi Gorge stands tall, guarding the Three Gorges; the Qutang Gorge is more dangerous than Bailao Pass."

Return to Baidi Town Hotel in the evening and have dinner at your own leisure.

Driving distance: about 160 kilometers, about 3.5 hours

Day 5: Baidi Town → Goddess Heavenly Road → Goddess Garden → Cuiping Peak → Qingshi Village

·morning

After breakfast, we'll head to the Goddess Sky Road, where the film "When the Mountains Are Full of Red Leaves" was filmed. Here, we'll take a scenic shuttle bus and admire the scenery from different perspectives at the various viewing platforms.

5 viewing platforms: Tianzhan Lantern, Xianlu Terrace, Yao Terrace, Mountain Temple and Feiyun Terrace

Legend has it that the goddess was the 23rd daughter of the Queen Mother. In order to help Dayu control the flood, she lit a magic lamp in Wushan, which was the Tianzhan Lantern.

Xianlutai is the place where the goddess and her sisters settled down. It is also the best place to overlook the Goddess Peak. The footprints left by the goddess make people imagine what she looked like.

There is a narrow glass plank road on Xianlutai. When you walk on it, there is a cliff under your feet, which is really scary.

The goddess and her sisters often came to Yaotai on full-moon nights to play the zither and sing songs, admiring the beautiful scenery on both sides of the gorge. People called the place where they played the zither and sang Yaotai. From Yaotai, you can see the Yangtze River flowing eastward in Wu Gorge.

Admiring the Wu Gorge Yangtze River from Feiyun Terrace, it seems as if there is a dangerous gate in the sky. Jumping over the gate, it is like a winding white silk thread, and with the red leaves covering the mountains, it is magnificent.

·afternoon

Then we took a boat to Qingshi Village, stayed at a farmhouse, and took pictures of the sunset at Shennv Peak. Shennv Peak stood opposite us. We could see such a majestic and beautiful mountain through the river, accompanied by red leaves. Let’s quickly click to record this moment!

It takes about 20 minutes to walk up from Qingshi Village to reach a great location for photographing Goddess Peak. Please bring your own equipment according to your physical strength.

Warm reminder: Qingshi Village has limited accommodation, and it is a public toilet for multiple people at night. It is located by the river, which is convenient for filming. Thank you for your understanding!

Driving time: about 50 kilometers, about 1 hour driving time, about 1.5 hours boat ride time

No. 6 Tianshennu Garden → Shennv Creek → Wenfeng Temple → Wushan County

·morning

We have to get up early in the morning and take a boat to the Qingshi Signal Tower to take pictures of the Yangtze River in the morning

Then we returned to the farmhouse for breakfast and a short rest.

Then take a boat tour to the Shennvxi scenic area

Shennv Creek, also known as "Beauty Creek" by locals, is 15 kilometers long. Due to the turbulent water surface and narrow stream path, 10 kilometers of it is a pristine valley with few people.

The boat trip on Shennv Creek is beautiful and peaceful. Grab your camera and take a photo of the quiet canyon! The canyon is also very beautiful in the light and shadow near noon.

·afternoon

We will take a bus to Wenfeng Temple in Wushan County, which is one of the best places to view the red leaves of the Three Gorges - on the north bank of the Wu Gorge.

Along the way, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the red leaves and Wu Gorge. We passed by the Zhenshui Tower where the red leaves were concentrated. The Zhenshui Tower was set against the backdrop of the red leaves on the mountain and the water of Wu Gorge, which was very poetic and magnificent.

Take out your drone and admire the unique scenery of azaleas on one side and green mountains on the other. You can also overlook the Wushan Yangtze River Bridge, a touch of orange spanning the Yangtze River.

In the evening, we will photograph the sunset over Wu Gorge near Wenfeng Temple. The setting sun will hit Wenfeng Temple, a touch of warm sunshine in autumn and winter, which is very pleasant (note that the temperature drops quickly after the sun sets).

You can also see the architectural features of the mountain city, which is as magical as Chongqing.

·night

As we descended the mountain, we could see and approach the unique Wushan County. This is a seriously underestimated treasure town. The mountain and the city are integrated. It is very spectacular when you look up. You can fully experience the architectural features of the mountain city where you can't tell which floor you are on. The magic level is not inferior to Chongqing.

In the evening, you can freely explore and take photos of this mountain city. You can also climb a section of the Goddess Avenue and feel the magic of the mountain city ladder. Standing on the avenue, you can overlook the beautiful mountains and rivers. For dinner, you can try the famous and delicious Wushan specialty paper-wrapped fish and see the beautiful night view of Wushan. You can also experience the comfortable life hidden in this ordinary small town. You can also invite tourists to stroll along the river and take pictures of the Wushan Yangtze River Bridge at night.

Check in to hotel in Wushan at night.

Driving distance: about 30 kilometers, about 2 hours by car; about 2 hours by boat

Day 7 Wushan County → Yichang

All day

In the morning, you can get up early and walk to the riverside to take photos of the morning scenery of the Yangtze River, with the Wushan Yangtze River Bridge looming in the distance through the mist. Or you can go to the pier to capture the atmosphere of life in Wushan.

After breakfast we return to Yichang by bus

Everyone was reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in their eyes! Don’t forget to hand in your homework when you get back!

Driving distance: about 220 kilometers, about 4 hours

The Yangtze River Three Gorges, located in the heart of China, collectively refer to the Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge, and Xiling Gorge. Stretching from Baidicheng in Fengjie County, Chongqing in the west to Nanjinguan in Yichang City, Hubei in the east, the 193-kilometer-long Three Gorges stretches across Fengjie County, Chongqing, Wushan County, Chongqing, Badong County, Hubei, Zigui County, Hubei, and Yichang City, Hubei. This is often referred to as the "Great Three Gorges."

Kuimen: Nestled between towering mountains and a majestic river, beneath the majestic Baidi City, Kuimen is the Yangtze River's gateway from the Sichuan Basin into the Three Gorges. The peaks flanking Kuimen, known as Baiyan Mountain in the south and Chijia Mountain in the north, rise dramatically from the ground, towering into the clouds. On either side of the river, sheer cliffs appear as if cut off from the earth, like a gateway fortified by nature. Facing each other across the river, one clad in red, the other in white, a truly remarkable sight. The steep cliffs facing the river, though barren of vegetation, each radiate a unique hue. These hues interplay with the morning glow, evening glow, and bright moonlight, creating such captivating scenes as "Chijia Clear Glow," "White Salt Dawn," and "Kuimen Autumn Moon."

The Three Gorges Dam is the world's most comprehensive water conservancy project, providing significant benefits for flood control and shipping. After its completion, the 600-kilometer-long reservoir, filled with water in phases, has become a rare sight in the world.
