Around 2:00 PM, we arrived at Qiyun Mountain. Among the renowned mountains and rivers of southern Anhui, Huangshan is undeniably the most famous. Perhaps due to its fame, it often eclipses many of its neighboring peaks. In comparison, Qiyun Mountain in Xiuning County is quite understated. However, despite its understated status, its title as one of the Four Great Taoist Mountains is well-deserved. Perpetually shrouded in mist, Qiyun Mountain has long been a Taoist paradise. While Wudang Mountain, Qingcheng Mountain, and Longhu Mountain are all renowned Taoist sanctuaries, they eclipse it in terms of seniority. Its breathtaking Danxia landforms cloak it in breathtaking beauty, with Xianglu Peak, Taixu Palace, and Yuehua Tianjie hidden within them... every corner boasts breathtaking scenery. We crossed Dengfeng Bridge, crossed the Hengjiang River, and ascended the mountain along the Nine-Li Thirteen Pavilions. We passed Wangxian Pavilion, Mengzhen Bridge, and from Tianyi Gate to Sanyi Gate, and finally the Xuantian Taisu Palace. The numerous cliff carvings and Taoist entrances all made us realize that Qiyun Mountain is truly an overlooked mountain. After about two hours, we arrived at Yuehua Street, the heart of Qiyun Mountain, and checked into our inn.

In the evening, we stood on the observation deck of the mountain inn, gazing out at the golden fields and the Xin'an River flowing around the mountains. In the night, under the stars, we chatted about the mountains, killing people, Three Kingdoms, and adventure games, and fell asleep in time.

Driving time: about 5.5 hours

Hiking: 1. Today's hike is about 4km up the mountain, with a total climb of about 250m

Note: 1. The journey is long, so it is recommended that you bring some snacks.

Day 2 → Qiyun Mountain → Zuyuan → Mulikeng

All day

Those who get up early can choose to climb to the highest peak and watch the sunrise over the sea of clouds.

After breakfast, the team leader led everyone to deeply appreciate the profound charm of the Taoist fairy mountain, and started to go down the mountain in time, from Yuxu Palace, to Fangla Village, to Wulao Peak, Xianren Bridge, and then hiked down the mountain from the other side.

We arrived at Zuyuan Ancient Village around 12:00, and had a meal at a local farmer's house, splitting the bill and drinking delicious chicken soup.

Zuyuan Village was built in the Song Dynasty. It has a pristine ecology, flowing springs and waterfalls, white walls and black tiles, and ancient Hui style. The village has historical and cultural landscapes such as water mouths, ancient bridges, ancient houses, ancient trees, and Sixianling. It is especially famous for its thousand-year-old yew and has more than 100 acres of terraced fields.

After visiting Zuyuan, we chose a 5km long ancient road connecting two ancient villages, known as the Dream Ancient Road. We took photos along the way, the scenery was pleasant, and it was easy and not tiring. It took about 1.5 hours.

Arrive at the cloud-top village of Muliqun at around 17:00, facing the setting sun, and wait for the sunset while marveling at the magic of the village.

Have dinner at the right time and enjoy delicious farm meals. If the weather is good, you can watch the stars together at night.

Driving time: about 1 hour

Note: Today we will walk 4km down the Qiyun Mountain section and 5km on the ancient trail from Zuyuan to Mulikou. There are many green trees on the trail and the intensity is not high.

Day 3 Mulikeng → Tunxi Old Street → Suzhou

All day

In the morning, everyone can decide their own wake-up time based on their sleep habits. Those who want to watch the sunrise should get up early. The sea of clouds in Kinashi is very famous, and the sunrise and the sea of clouds together create a fairyland-like scene!

Mulikeng is considered one of Huangshan's top 100 photography spots. A photographer who captured the boundless beauty of Xin'an, capturing this mountain village, won first prize. There's so much to discover! Grab your camera and snap away!

After breakfast, we had plenty of time to explore the ancient village on our own, descending the mountain along a hidden ancient path. We then took a bus eastward to our final stop: Tunxi Old Street. Known as a moving "Along the River During the Qingming Festival," Tunxi Old Street is a well-preserved ancient Chinese street market, showcasing architectural styles from the Southern Song and Ming and Qing dynasties. Here, you'll find countless delicious treats, including Huizhou xiaohun dun (small wontons), Huangshan Mao tofu, and Anhui stinky mandarin fish. Not only are there plenty of places to browse, but there are also plenty of options for dining. We'll have some free time to eat here for lunch. After lunch, we'll return to Suzhou.

It is expected to arrive at the departure point in Suzhou around 19:00. Everyone is reluctant to leave and kisses goodbye with tears in their eyes!

Driving time: about 4.5 hours

Hiking: Today we will hike down the mountain for about 2 km

Qiyun Mountain, formerly known as "Bai Yue," is one of China's four famous Taoist mountains. Historically, it's also known as "Huangshan and Bai Yue are the best in the south of the Yangtze River." Along with Huangshan, Jiuhua Mountain, and Tianzhu Mountain, it's considered one of the four famous mountains in southern Anhui. Qiyun Mountain's name stems from its peak, where a cliff faces the sky, "a single rock piercing the sky, level with the clouds." In 1994, the State Council designated it as a Chinese Scenic Area and National Forest Park. It's often said, "Huangshan and Bai Yue stand face to face, and green waters and red cliffs are the best in the south of the Yangtze River." Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty praised it as "an unparalleled scenic spot under heaven, the most famous mountain in the south of the Yangtze River." China-TravelNote highly praises Qiyun Mountain!

Muli Village: This pristine ecological environment and unique topography, nestled on a mountain ridge, with three sides suspended in the air, is richly imbued with Hui culture and is known as the "Most Beautiful Alpine Village in Huangshan." Muli Village is shaped like a camel, and is more clearly visible from the opposite mountain, known locally as "Front Mountain." Locals cultivate numerous tea trees on Front Mountain, which enjoyed robust production in previous years. However, in recent years, the village's young residents have chosen to work elsewhere, leaving only the elderly to maintain the village, leaving much of the tea crop uncultivated. Bamboo is also abundantly planted on Front Mountain, and the locals make a living selling it. Looking across from Front Mountain, one can see the entire village, a truly breathtaking sight, especially after rain, when a sea of clouds can be seen. The village feels like a fairyland.
