Day 2: Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum → Xuanwu Lake → Accommodation
·morning
We have to get up early today (breakfast is packed), and in the quiet moment, we enter the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. We often say that "Qiu Qixia" should share half of its fame with the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum.
Walking into the Shixiang Road Sacred Road and quietly waiting for the sun to shine, in the vast sea of forests, it is like walking into a time tunnel, with golden and fiery red colors interweaving to create the illusion of history.
Here you can capture the hazy light and shadow effects of the morning sun shining through the trees. The autumn scenery is very beautiful and the entire Stone Elephant Road is colorful.
After the photo shoot, you can also visit the main buildings of the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, including the Xiaoling Gate, the Hall of Worship, the Inner Red Gate, the Fangcheng Minglou, etc. Team members with good physical strength can also go to Qianhu Lake for photo shooting. In recent years, it has been a popular check-in spot for Nanjing's autumn colors and has also produced very good photos.
At about 10:30, we will gather on the bus and return to the hotel, where we will have lunch at our leisure.
·afternoon
In the afternoon, we will go to the Ming City Wall. If someone asks what represents Nanjing, the Ming City Wall, a national engineering project that has stood for 630 years, will definitely be one of the answers!
The Nanjing City Wall, nestled against the mountains and beside the water, was built in 1366. It was designed and supervised by Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang. Nearly one million craftsmen from five provinces in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River participated in the construction, and it took 28 years to complete.
It has stood tall and majestic for more than 600 years, "traveling" through more than 600 years of time and photographed from different perspectives.
Then we went down the city wall and walked into Xuanwu Lake to experience the beauty of the autumn scenery of Jinling Lake.
The tricolor Chinese tallow trees beside the Huanzhou Rose Garden are the first to be decorated, and the Tailing forest is dyed with autumn colors. Various autumn flowers and fruits compete to appear, with colorful colors and beautiful picturesque scenery.
Check in at Xuanwu Lake Ginkgo Avenue and go to Liangzhou to photograph the gorgeous ginkgo trees and ancient buildings complementing each other. It seems as if time and space have stopped, and everyone is amazed by the autumn colors.
Then we looked for a niche camera position by the Jinji Lake to shoot the Xuanwu Lake Blues Intercity Line, with the Ming City Wall and the urban building Zifeng Tower in the same frame, reflecting the past and the present.
At about 18:00, we will gather and drive to the accommodation in Liuhe District, where we will have a free meal and rest.
Day 3: Zhimaling → Chishan Lake Wetland Park → Accommodation
All day
Don't sleep in this morning! Don't miss the sunrise over Zhimaling and the morning mist over the Metasequoia trees – a truly dreamy sight. The Metasequoia trees, known as the "water forest," are also a classic sight in Zhimaling.
The pond cypress trees form a dense forest. Through the morning mist, you can take pictures of the sunlight shining through the trees and reflected in the water, which is as beautiful as an oil painting and very dreamy.
When the water level is low, we can also enter the forest to take pictures. If we are lucky, we will see dancing ducks and geese playing in the water, which are also very good subjects for shooting.
After taking photos of the morning light of the pond cypress, we drove to the [Chishan Lake Wetland Park]. The scenic area is large, so we left enough time to take photos here.
Take a boat tour to explore the [Big Pond Cypress Forest]. The pond cypress forest is a rare water forest resource in China and is a rare pond cypress forest in East China. More than 50,000 pond cypress trees are covered in "red makeup" and stand in a staggered manner in the thousand-acre pond cypress lake.
The Swan Lake in Chishan Lake Wetland Park is a great place to photograph birds. It is a paradise for water birds, where all kinds of water birds live in harmony with humans, unrestrained and free to come and go.
Based on this, the wonderful scenes of birds appearing from both near and far distances, but more from medium and long distances, so it is necessary to bring a telephoto lens. After getting off the boat, we went to another area to take pictures, strolling along the pond cypress plank road and appreciating the charm of the autumn colors of the pond cypress.
After the photoshoot, we went to our accommodation and had some free time for dinner in the evening.
Day 4 Accommodation → Qixia Mountain → Nanjing South Railway Station
All day
After breakfast, we headed to Qixia Mountain, one of China's four great spots for viewing red leaves. Qixia Mountain's "Qixia Red Maple" is listed as one of the Forty-Eight Scenic Spots of Jinling, and since the Ming Dynasty, there's a saying: "Spring at Niu Shou, Autumn at Qixia."
Maple Leaf Photography Route:
Entering from the main gate, you will directly reach Qixia Temple. In front of the temple, there are two large ancient ginkgo trees and the vermilion gate, which are both good spots for taking photos.
Going forward, you will pass by the Sutra Library. You can take a group photo of the white carved railings and buildings here, which have a very ancient flavor.
Then go to the "Reading Maple Pavilion" on Hushan Mountain and climb up to see the fiery red maple leaves. It is so beautiful that you can take portraits here. If you take aerial photos, it will be even more shocking.
Continue forward to Taohua Lake, where there are maples and lakes, creating a strong sense of layering. You can use the still lake surface to shoot reflections in the water, or use the red maples to blur the foreground and place the portrait in the middle, which will produce a different effect.
Then go to the Red Leaf Valley. On both sides of the winding path are large maple forests, which are particularly enchanting in red and yellow. Taking a group of portraits here will give you a feeling of clarity and emptiness. If the sunlight is just right, the photos will be very vivid and fresh.
You can have lunch in the scenic area at noon.
Of course, the beauty of various chance encounters is also the joy of photography.
At noon, everyone will have their own lunch and then we will gather together at the appropriate time. This marks the end of the Jinling Autumn Photography Team’s trip. Everyone will kiss goodbye with tears in their eyes and we will be sent to Nanjing South Railway Station to end our pleasant trip.
Note: The train arrives at Nanjing South Railway Station at approximately 15:00. It is recommended to book a train after 16:00.
