Gaoyou: A Treasure Town | A Canal Water Village, a Bustling Town

Day 1 Nanjing → Gaoyou → Nanjing

08:15

From 08:15 to 08:30, we gathered and signed in at Exit 1 of Andemen Station on Nanjing Metro Line 1, where we saw the yellow China-TravelNote flag.

08:30

We set off on time. On the bus, the tour leader will arrange for everyone to introduce themselves, play interactive games, and have fun laughing along the way!

11:00

Visit the Wang Zengqi Memorial Hall, a new internet-famous check-in spot in Gaoyou and a literary pilgrimage site, to experience the charm of Mr. Wang’s literature while further deepening your knowledge and understanding of Gaoyou and getting to know the different sides of the city.

After the tour, you can freely check in Gaoyou food in the surrounding area (there are many food stores nearby, you can choose freely)

Gaoyou's special food is especially recommended. Mr. Wang Zengqi once mentioned a smoked food called "Pu Bao Rou" in his novel "Yi Bing". The combination of Pu Bao and meat filling complement each other, and it has a strong pastoral flavor.

13:00

Take a bus to Gaoyou [Yucheng Posthouse], a rare Ming Dynasty post station in China and one of the must-see places in Gaoyou. Getting to know Gaoyou starts from here. After the tour, you can also leave the scenic area to explore nearby, giving everyone enough free time to freely experience the local scenery and feel the fireworks of the world described by Mr. Wang.

3:00 PM

Set off to Zhenguo Temple on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, which is also a cultural heritage. You can admire the "Tang Pagoda", pray, and walk along the river to experience the wonder of Gaoyou Lake on one side and the canal on the other.

4:30 PM

Enjoy the sunset over Gaoyou Lake at Xidi Scenic Area. The Gaoyou Grand Canal of the Ming and Qing Dynasties is a World Cultural Heritage and an important part of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.

From Gaoyou Lake to sunset, enjoy a warm drink in a nearby cafe, waiting for the sun to set. As the sun slowly descends, you'll find yourself by the lake, the water connecting to the horizon, a breathtakingly beautiful scene that caps off a day's journey.
(Arrival time can be adjusted flexibly based on sunset time; if you arrive early, you can rest and wait.)

5:00 PM

After the tour, return by bus.

7:30 PM

Return to the starting point in Nanjing and disband happily.

Driving time: about 2.5 hours
