Pearl River Delta Photography - Macau International Fireworks Festival | 7-Day City Lights and Architectural Beauty

Day 1: Anywhere → or → Meet in Guangzhou

All day

Gather in Guangzhou all day, please pay attention to safety during free time

If you have more time, you can explore world-famous shopping destinations like Beijing Road, Teemall, and the Slender Waist. You can also enjoy morning or evening tea at a teahouse. A night cruise on the Pearl River or photographing the sunset or nightscape of the Slender Waist from Liede Bridge are all excellent options!

Day 2 Guangzhou

All day

After breakfast, take photos of the Shamian buildings

Shamian was once the British and French concessions. Historically, consulates of many countries were established here, and many European-style buildings are preserved here. It can be said to be an open-air architectural "museum" in Guangzhou.

Then we filmed the area around Enning Road, the representative of Old Xiguan.

Enning Road, nestled in the former Xiguan area of Guangzhou, boasts a rich tapestry of urban culture. With its quiet lanes and jagged arcades, it's known as Guangzhou's Old Street, dotted with historically significant buildings such as the former residences of celebrities. Yongqingfang, nestled in this Xiguan-inspired area, is steeped in rich history and culture. Surrounded by historical landmarks such as the Cantonese Opera Art Museum and the Eight-Hui Guild Hall, the area boasts Bruce Lee's ancestral home and the former residence of a mysterious politician, and regularly hosts cultural exhibitions. Here, nostalgia and fashion coexist, and creative ghost-themed events are a constant fixture. The cultural scene never ends.

In the afternoon, take photos of the night view of Guangzhou Opera House and Guangzhou Three Towers

The Guangzhou Opera House, a landmark building along the New Central Axis, boasts a unique deconstructivist design and a striking spatial aesthetic. When the contrast between light and dark is striking, the opera house's frame and lines can be used to create artistic silhouettes. For example, the slope allows for interactive shots of people with the distant Canton Tower. Then, take photos along Flower City Square to experience Guangzhou's architectural beauty from multiple unique angles. At the right moment, head to the rooftop for a photo op to capture the vibrant night scene of the three towers in the background.

Driving distance: about 30 kilometers, about 2 hours

Day 3 Guangzhou → Shenzhen

All day

Get up early to photograph the sunrise over the Pearl River over Guangzhou's landmark buildings

Guangzhou welcomes the sunrise of a new day. The rising sun gradually rises and shines on Guangzhou. The earth, the Pearl River and the buildings gradually become clear in the morning light, forming a beautiful picture of the sunrise over the Pearl River in Guangzhou.

Then filmed the "Venice" in Guangzhou

The contrast between the urban village housing estates and the distant "Three Towers" of Zhujiang New Town has earned this camera position the nickname "behind the bustling city." On a clear day, the vibrant exteriors of the housing estates reflect vibrant colors on the water, creating the illusion of a "Venice of Guangzhou."

Photographing Shenzhen Xiwan Mangrove Forest in the afternoon

Xiwan Mangrove Forest is a famous sunset photography spot in Shenzhen. Before sunset, we can walk along the trail to the base of the Yanjiang Cross-Sea Bridge. From there, the neatly arranged archways create a time-travelling experience. From the horizon, we can see a row of neatly arranged offshore power towers and the newly constructed Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, a truly spectacular sight. Then, we move to the sunset camera position, offering not only breathtaking views of the sea but also a captivating sunset scene, a stunning combination of the sea, the setting sun, the mangroves, and the bridge.

Driving time: about 150 kilometers, about 3 hours and 30 minutes

Note: Buses can only move after 5:00 AM according to traffic control. If the sunrise is too early, you may need to take a taxi to the sunrise shooting spot.

Day 4 Shenzhen

All day

Photographing Upper Hills after breakfast

Shenzhen, a city of design, is exemplified by the LOFT Town in Upper City. Entering the town feels like stepping into a Mondrian-inspired world: the building facades are divided and interwoven with simple geometric blocks of color. The lofts, each with its own distinct volume, blend high, mid, and low floors. The inherent concave and convex aesthetic of the buildings is utilized to create a composition of distinct lines and geometric blocks. Horizontal and vertical lines create an order and balance, creating a unique, magical world.

Photographing the Civic Center complex in the morning

The Civic Center is backed by Lianhua Mountain to the north and faces the Shenzhen Central Business District to the south. It consists of a complex of buildings including the Shenzhen Civic Center, Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning Center, Shenzhen Museum, Shenzhen Library, Shenzhen Central Book City, and Shenzhen Concert Hall. This area is also collectively referred to as the Shenzhen Civic Center.

Photograph the sunset scene of Master Bridge in the afternoon

Located in Shenzhen Bay's Talent Park, you can capture the Chunsun Building and other CBD buildings, embodying Shenzhen's modern urban atmosphere. The sun sets just behind the skyscrapers, creating a dreamy, crimson glow that complements the skyscrapers and creates a strong sense of modernity. During the blue hour, the city's skyscrapers light up, and the night view showcases Shenzhen's bustling urban atmosphere.

Hiking: About 60 kilometers a day, about 2 hours and 20 minutes

Day 5 Shenzhen → Zhuhai

All day

Get up early to photograph the Shenzhen Bay sunrise

We waited quietly for the Shenzhen city skyline to meet the sunrise by the sea with a wide view. It is difficult to find a second space like this surrounded by curved mountains in the city. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the sea. It is suitable for quietly enjoying the sunrise and watching the city slowly wake up. Every moment cannot be missed.

Then take a photo of the Shenzhen Bay Bridge

This cross-sea bridge connects Shenzhen's Nanshan District with Hong Kong's Yuen Long District. Located over Shenzhen Bay in the Lingdingyang, it forms part of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Western Corridor. Shoot from the pier and from multiple angles underneath. Check out at noon and depart for Zhuhai.

In the afternoon, we filmed the day and night of Zhuhai Grand Theatre (Sun Moon Shell)

Pearls are born from shells, and shells are born from the sea. The Zhuhai Grand Theatre, shaped like a sun and moon shell, is a Zhuhai landmark and China's first island-based theatre. Whenever you visit Zhuhai, you'll encounter it in various settings. We'll first capture the Moon Boat and the Sun and Moon Shell, a glimpse of both ancient and modern times. They say every photographer in the Pearl River Delta must have one, and I won't let you miss out. We'll then capture the Sun and Moon Shell from close-up at various iconic angles, then move to the beach to capture the sunset over it. As night falls, the golden Sun and Moon Shell, like a bright pearl against the azure sea and sky, illuminates the bay.

Driving time: about 120 kilometers, about 2 hours and 30 minutes

6th Day Zhuhai

All day

Get up early to photograph the sunrise at the Love Post Office Lighthouse

On the silvery sands of Lingjiaozui, at the Lovers' Road section, stands a lighthouse symbolizing love and romance. Every day, many young couples flock to take photos and check in. On a fine day, the sun slowly rises from the east, painting the sky a riot of color, adorning the lighthouse, the sea, the reefs, and the people watching the sunrise with a golden hue. Accompanied by the crashing of waves and the occasional cry of seabirds, this is the romance of the Love Post Office.

Then filmed the Zhuhai Fisher Girl

The Fisher Girl Statue, located on the shores of Xianglu Bay in Zhuhai, features a pearl necklace, a fishing net, and rolled-up trousers. Holding a pearl aloft, she reveals light to the world with a joyful yet shy expression. The Fisher Girl Statue has become a symbol of Zhuhai and a must-see destination for visitors.

In the afternoon, I went to photograph the facade of Hengqin Wutongshu Hotel

The balconies of the Wutongshu Hotel are convex and concave, and the golden balcony is shaped like a tree, with a charming architectural geometric structure.

Then go to shoot the White Stone Bridge

Baishi Bridge is Zhuhai's first European-style self-anchored suspension bridge. This white, Gothic-style bridge spans the Qianhe River. Its artistic design and silhouette have made it a popular online sensation, attracting countless photographers. Choose from classic angles to capture the bridge alongside the Macau Tower, or even the Grand Lisboa Hotel and the bridge.

Photographing the Macau International Fireworks Show at night

The Macau International Fireworks Festival is an international fireworks display organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office. It began in 1989 with just five participating teams, expanding to ten in 1995. Held annually between September and October, the event features a fireworks display over the sea off the Macau Tower, featuring music, lasers, and light effects. Spectators can choose to view the display from various locations in Macau or in parts of Zhuhai. The five displays for the 33rd International Fireworks Competition in 2025 will take place on September 6, 13, 20, 1, and 6, from 9:00 PM to 9:40 PM. China-TravelNote has secured an exclusive camera spot from the Executive Lounge of the Renaissance Shanghai Hotel, offering a 20th-floor view of the city. The telephoto lens captures the romantic juxtaposition of the Macau fireworks, Macau Tower, and Zhuhai's Baishi Bridge.

Driving time: about 60 kilometers in a day, about 2 hours and 10 minutes

Day 7 Zhuhai → or → other places

All day

Get up early to photograph the sunrise at Shizimen

To the left of the Shizimen Waterway lies Macau, and to the right is Hengqin Financial Island. Every sunrise, both Hengqin and Macau are bathed in the sunlight. With the Macau Tower and Sai Van Bridge in the foreground, this is one of the best vantage points for photographing the sunrise over the Macau Tower.

Photographing Jinwan Citizen Art Center in the morning

Zhuhai's whimsical new landmark, designed by Zaha Hadid Studio, is a giant steel butterfly crafted from thousands of tons of steel, creating a sci-fi experience. With a majestic central axis pointing directly across the sea to Hengqin and Macau, it's a true paradise for photographers and aerial photography enthusiasts.

At noon, we will send the group off to Zhuhai Jinwan Airport (estimated to arrive at the airport around 13:00), and then to Zhuhai Railway Station (estimated to drop off the group at the high-speed railway station at 14:00), ending this enjoyable photography trip!

Driving time: about 80 kilometers, about 1 hour and 50 minutes
