Exploring the Ancient Trails of Dasong Bay | Traveling by land and water, visiting Zhejiang's Xiaowusun

Day 1 Shanghai → Ningbo → Shanghai

07:00

Meet at the designated location of China-TravelNote (latecomers will not be accepted!)

The bus departs on time at 7:15. The journey is quite long, so the tour leader will introduce himself and explain the itinerary on the bus. There will be laughter all the way, and during the journey, friends can also recharge their energy for the upcoming hike.

11:00

Arriving at the Dasongwan Ancient Trail meeting point, we warmed up and started hiking! We started with a gentle slope through the bamboo forest, which was very comfortable and cool. Then we continued along the ancient trail and strolled along the stream.

12:30

Hike to the "Guanding Lake" on our itinerary, find a place with a unique view, sit on the ground, and enjoy the meal you prepared with your friends!

13:00

After lunch, we continued our journey! There was a long climb here.

2:00 PM

We strolled along the river and stream. The scenery along the way was still original, and we walked on the ancient road, which was quite interesting.

2:30 PM

We hiked to our waterfall viewing point, which was truly spectacular and perfect for photo opportunities! Around 3:30 PM, we reached our climbing point. There were four or five climbing points, where we experienced the joy of using our hands and feet to tread the undulating rocks. After the climbing points, there were several water-forging sections, perfect for some summer fun!

Considering the difficulty of the second half of the climbing and river tracing, this route will arrange a route closing point before entering the climbing section. The time is 15:10 in the afternoon. If you do not arrive within the specified time, the leader will arrange a forced descent. The descent route is the scenic road. You can go to the end point on your own. It is estimated that the scenic trail is less than 1km. Thank you for your understanding.

5:30 PM

We got back in the car and started our return journey

9:00 PM

After returning to Shanghai, everyone helped each other along the way. When it was time to say goodbye, they were reluctant to leave and kissed each other with tears in their eyes!

Driving time: about 3.5 hours

Hiking: about 11 km, climbing about 600 meters, the highest altitude is 579 meters

Note: Because the trail will pass through dense bamboo forests and hot weather, mosquitoes are common, so wearing long sleeves and long pants is highly recommended. The second half of the route involves several wading sections, so you can wear your own river trekking shoes and experience the joy of playing in the water.
It's highly recommended to bring your own river trekking shoes and a set of clothing. Gloves, if available, are also welcome.
Swimming in Guanding Lake is prohibited. Violators will be held responsible, and the tour leader reserves the right to intervene.

1.Why didn’t I receive a text message notification after registering?

2. What if it rains during the event?

2-3 days before the event, we will decide whether the event will proceed as scheduled based on the weather forecast and route conditions. Please pay attention to our notifications. Most activities can proceed as usual even if there is light rain. There is still fun to be had on rainy days. If heavy rain is forecast, the event will be cancelled and a full refund will be given to everyone.

3. Is this route crowded?

Most of our routes are natural and niche, with relatively small traffic. Of course, it also depends on the registration situation for each period. Generally, ordinary models are 37-seat buses, and a few large models are 53-seat. Each car has a certain proportion of tour leaders to ensure the quality of the event.

1. Dasongwan Ancient Road is located in Longguan Township, Haishu District. It is one of the ten ancient roads in Ningbo. In ancient times, it was the main transportation route into Siming Mountain. Via the Dasongwan Ancient Road, you can reach the Jiaokeng Grand Canyon in Banshan Village.

2. Jiaokeng originates in the area of Panxi Village, adjacent to the Dasongwan Ancient Road. Its lower reaches flow into the Li Pailou and Wai Pailou Reservoirs. Going up along the Ximenchuang Trail, you will see waterfalls and pools alternating along the way, with birds singing and cicadas chirping. It is deep, cool, beautiful and charming.

The stream in the canyon is crystal clear and cool, and you can enjoy the refreshing water environment and melt away the scorching summer heat.
