Day 2 Guxiang → Medog → Guoguotang → Green Village/Medog

All day

Theme: Lotus Secret Realm | Exploring the Isolated Plateau Island of "Medog"

After breakfast, we will depart for the sacred lotus land - the secret Medog.

Medog, a name steeped in mystery, has been hailed as an isolated plateau island, the Xishuangbanna of Tibet, and Earth's last secret place... It's also the last county in China to be connected by road, and to this day, a two-entry, one-exit policy is still in place. Precisely because of the complex and arduous journey, the locals living in Medog maintain a pristine, even isolated, lifestyle, and the fact that tourists truly reach the area is extremely rare.

We passed through the 3,800-meter-high Galongla Tunnel and, over the course of approximately 80 kilometers, rapidly descended to 700 meters before entering Medog. In just half a day, we transitioned from high-altitude snow-capped mountains and glaciers to cold temperate coniferous forests, temperate mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests, subtropical deciduous broad-leaved forests, and finally to mountain rainforests—a truly marvelous experience. Passing through Medog County, we continued onward until we reached the Guoguotang bend.

Finally, we'll arrive at Green Village, a magical village with fewer tourists and views of Mount Namjagbarwa, the Himalayas, and the Yarlung Zangbo River. (Accommodation in Green Village is limited, so if there's no accommodation available, we'll move you to Medog County or Beibeng Township.)

Remark:

1. Because Medog currently implements a double entry and single exit policy, if it is an odd day, the DAY2 itinerary will be changed to the original DAY4 Langqiu Glacier exploration, and DAY3 will enter Medog.

2. Accommodation in Green Village is limited. If you are unable to book accommodation in Green Village, please stay in a hotel in Medog County instead (Medog County to Green Village: 1.5 hours drive).

Driving time: about 5 hours

Note: Note: Because Motuo currently implements a double entry and single exit policy, if it is an odd day, the DAY2 itinerary will be changed to the original DAY4 Langqiu Glacier exploration, and DAY3 will enter Motuo.

Day 3 Medog/Green Village → Tree King Forest Hike → Bomi

All day

- Hiking distance: about 10KM round trip

-Hiking time: about 4-5 hours

-Supplies along the way: None

-Road conditions: Dirt road with gentle slopes

Theme: The Wizard of Oz | Searching for the Bhutanese Pine King "Sindabu"

Known as the "World Museum of Flora and Fauna" and the "World Biological Gene Bank," Medog is brimming with evergreen primeval forests, akin to a hidden paradise deep within the canyons. In May 2022, a 76.8-meter-tall Bhutanese pine was discovered in Green Village, making it the tallest recorded tree in China to date.

After breakfast, follow the local guide through the vast primeval forest to search for China's tallest Bhutanese pine, named "Sindabu." Hiking into the Tree King Forest, you'll see towering Tibetan cypress, spruce, and fir trees. Climbing plants like tree-scraping dragons soar dozens of meters up the trees. Moss carpets the forest floor, and rare orchids and dendrobiums cling freely to the trees. The air is filled with the fragrance of resin and wildflowers. Walking through the jungle, accompanied by the sounds of flowing streams and birdsong, you'll feel like you're enjoying a natural concert. The forest air is thick with rich moisture, and everything feels ethereal and distant.

After the tour, we bid farewell to the secret land of Lotus in Motuo and returned to Bomi.

Driving time: about 4.5 hours

Day 4 Bomi → Langqiu Glacier → Bomi

All day

-Hiking distance: about 3.5km one way, about 7km round trip

-Cumulative elevation: +300M/-300M

-Hiking time: about 4 hours

-Supplies along the way: None

-Road conditions: Mainly dirt roads

Theme: Glacier Exploration | Visiting Langqiu Glacier

After breakfast, we'll depart for Langqiu Glacier. Langqiu Glacier, Bomi's most renowned glacier, originates from the Gangri Gabu Snow Mountain on the southern shore of the Parlung Tsangpo River and is even larger than the renowned Midui Glacier. From Bomi to Ranwu Lake, we'll see the numerous snow-capped peaks of the Gangri Gabu Mountain Range. After leaving Bomi County, we'll head to Langqiu Glacier, trekking through the primeval forests of the river valley all the way to the glacier.

To reach the Langqiu Glacier cross section, you'll need to hike up the mountain opposite the glacier, a truly magical route. Accompanied by birdsong, Langqiu Glacier occasionally appears and disappears through the trees, and the rumbling sound of creeks formed by glacial meltwater fills your ears. The colorful trees and pristine glacier are reflected in the crystal-clear lake, creating a fairyland-like scene.

After the hike, return to Bomi and check in.

Note: Because Medog currently implements a double entry and single exit policy, we will swap the DAY2 itinerary with the DAY4 itinerary based on the specific date, and enter Medog on DAY3.

Driving time: about 4 hours

Hiking: about 7 kilometers round trip, climbing about 300 meters, about 4 hours

Note: Note: Because Medog currently implements a double entry and single exit policy, we will swap the DAY2 itinerary and DAY4 itinerary based on the specific date, and enter Medog on DAY3.

Day 6: Sosong Village → Namjagbarwa Base Camp/Naratso Trekking → Sosong Village

All day

Theme: Tears of Namjagbarwa | Check in at the secret Naratso and Namjagbarwa Base Camp

There are two itineraries available today, both cost the same.

A trip: Naratso hiking (round trip about 18 kilometers)

We rose early and took an off-road vehicle to the Namjagbarwa South Base Camp, our starting point for the hike. The path to Naratso is a narrow, winding path carved by devout believers through countless circumambulations. However, due to its long distance and high altitude (the lake is over 4,300 meters above sea level), the number of people who have visited Naratso remains extremely limited. Naratso is a hidden gem, quietly awaiting more visitors.

In the distance, the snow-capped Mount Namjagbarwa looms, and nearby, towering, deep, primeval forests stretch out. The tranquility and purity are so captivating that one can't take their eyes away. Nara Tso, nestled among the rocks, exudes a tranquil beauty, while its crystal-clear blue waters resemble a jewel, breathtaking! Those who have personally visited Nara Tso are more inclined to believe that this jade-like lake, adorned at an altitude of 4,300 meters, is the teardrop of Mount Namjagbarwa, for its mysterious beauty. We will then hike back to Namjagbarwa Base Camp and return to Sosong Village by bus.

Itinerary B: Namjagbarwa Base Camp (about 9 kilometers round trip) + wild luxury dinner or afternoon tea

After breakfast, we'll explore the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon. The roaring Yarlung Zangbo River juts out past, and the towering Namjagbarwa Peak looms in the distance. We'll drive along the canyon to our starting point for today's hike. We'll follow the trail up to Namjagbarwa Base Camp. From the viewing platform on the way up, the breathtaking U- and S-bends of the Yarlung Zangbo River come into view. The alpine canyon, formed by the combined forces of mountain and river, is majestic, steep, deep, and treacherous. From the peaks to the canyon floor, the terrain rises dramatically, and the Yarlung Zangbo River curves around the hills before cascading down.

Continuing our ascent, we'll reach Mount Namjagbarwa Base Camp. At an altitude of over 3,500 meters, the terrain is flat and the views are expansive. Just four kilometers away, it feels as if you could reach out and touch this most mysterious of peaks. Arriving here, all the hustle and bustle of life vanishes, leaving only inner reflection. From Base Camp, with binoculars, even avalanches can be clearly seen, a truly spectacular sight. On a clear day, you'll be able to witness the dazzling golden mountain from up close, amidst a hazy, billowing mist. At noon, we'll enjoy a luxurious afternoon tea at the closest point to Mount Namjagbarwa. Facing the snow-capped peaks, we'll enjoy hot pot and sweet tea, a relaxing afternoon. After lunch, enjoy some photo opportunities before descending to Sosong Village.

Driving time: about 2 hours round trip

Hiking: Naratso: 18 km round trip, 900 meters of ascent and 900 meters of descent, about 7 hours;

Note: If you are unable to go to Naratso due to weather conditions, the itinerary will be adjusted to hiking to the Nanga Bawa Base Camp.
