Day 1 Shanghai → Heniaoshan → Shanghai
All day
Meet at the designated location of China-TravelNote at 7:15 and depart at 7:30 (no latecomers!)
7:30-10:30 The journey is long and there will be a stop at a service area in the middle. The team leader will introduce himself and explain the itinerary on the bus, and there will be laughter all the way. During the journey, friends can also recharge their energy for the next hike.
We arrived at Sixi Village around 10:30 AM and disembarked to form a team. The route boasts a vertical ascent of approximately 750 meters. The vegetation, as the altitude increases, progresses through bamboo forests, mixed fir forests, shrubs, and alpine meadows, creating a scene full of natural beauty and wildness. Snow-capped Heniao Mountain resembles a fairytale world, with bamboo forests drifting with snow and alpine ice meadows. The snowy scenery of Jiangnan is uniquely poetic.
Around 12:30 PM, we reached the summit of a massive rock formation, offering a vast view, like a giant natural observation deck. From there, we gazed out over the vast expanse of snow-capped mountains, a breathtaking spectacle. We had lunch (dry rations) at the summit and rested.
Around 13:30, we continued our journey, crossing Heron Mountain and descending along the ridge.
Around 15:30, we arrived at the starting point of Baizhangping Paradise Forest Ancient Trail and continued to the reservoir.
Around 16:30, we arrived at the starting point of Sixi Village. The bus had already picked us up there, and everyone boarded the bus for the return journey.
Around 20:00, we returned to the starting point in Shanghai. Everyone was still reluctant to leave and said goodbye with tears in their eyes.
The route has a certain amount of climbing, which will be more challenging for new outdoor enthusiasts!
Equipment Tips for Winter Snow Trails:
1. For snow trail hikes, you must bring your own outdoor gear, including crampons, trekking poles, snow covers, cold-weather gloves, mid-to-high-top non-slip hiking shoes, and other equipment.
2. Because this route involves primarily snowy and slippery terrain, crampons are mandatory for safety reasons. These can be purchased online or at stores 2-3 days before registration. If you're late registering, you can select the "Cramps for Sale" option on the page.
3. Please select the option to collect your crampons from your tour leader on the day of your visit with a screenshot of your order. Please verify that there are no quality issues on site. Once used, they are non-refundable.
