Arrive at the starting point of the Jingkan Ancient Trail hike, warm up, and start hiking!
We arrived at the starting point and climbed up a country cement road, then onto the ancient stone path of the Jiapeng section, leading us to the riverbed on the mountain. The exposed riverbed is home to a dazzling display of natural fluorite in various colors: purple, white, green, and yellow. The climb down the riverbed, involving hands and feet, is quite challenging, so bringing gloves is recommended.
The road conditions are a mixture of rural cement roads, ancient stone roads, dirt roads, and rocks washed out by riverbeds. Please be sure to wear long pants and long sleeves are recommended.

We wandered through the terraced fields and arrived at the Meiganling Observation Deck, where we reflected on the ancient path we had walked, the rapeseed terraces beneath the peaks, and the beautiful scenery of the villages of southern Anhui. We descended the trail and passed through Kantou Village. The rice fields turn yellow around mid-to-late September or early October.
Kantou Ancient Village in Jiapeng Township is a famous spot for photographing rapeseed blossoms in southern Anhui. In spring, rapeseed blossoms bloom in March and April, followed by azaleas in May. In autumn, rice paddies bloom in September and October, and in late November, the mountains are dotted with yellow and red leaves. September 7th is the White Dew Festival, the day when residents of Jiapeng and Jingzhou Townships gather to pick walnuts. For about a week before and after, you can see the entire township experiencing a power outage.
