Xingxiu Dalei Mountain | Walking on the ridge of the clouds with heavy equipment and enjoying high mountain camping

Day 1 Shanghai → Heyewan Village → Dalei Mountain

07:00

Ready to go!!!

7:15 Gather and set off!!!

Meet at the designated location of China-TravelNote and sign in to get on the bus🚌🚌

On the way, the team leader began to explain the itinerary, the team members introduced themselves to each other, and the team leader led everyone to interact, and there was laughter all the way☺️☺️.

We will stop at a service area for a rest and lunch. Please prepare water and food for the first day in advance, or replenish it at the highway service area.

The journey is long, so it is recommended to bring a pillow and eye mask

12:00

Arrive at the starting point, Heyewan Village, take a rest, warm up and then set off into the mountains, and then start climbing along the mountain path.

Located in the central-western part of Taizhou City, Dalei Mountain is the second highest peak in southeastern Zhejiang, reaching an elevation of 1,229.4 meters. It forms the boundary between Tiantai, Linhai, and Xianju, and serves as the watershed between the Yong'an and Shifeng Streams. Connecting to Qingmingjian in the southwest, it winds northeastward along the western district boundary, turning eastward to enter the region, forming its main peaks in northeastern Xianju County, southwestern Tiantai County, and northwest Linhai City. Dalei Mountain boasts an old forest farm, offering tranquil views of the forest, birdsong, waterfalls, and misty mountain scenery, making it a popular destination for hikers.

We climbed the daunting Despair Slope and the firebreak along the way, finding a meadow to rest. We continued our journey, walking along the Sky Dragon Ridge, where the views were expansive and the scenery was magnificent. Extraordinary scenery often lies in remote and treacherous locations. We reached the summit of Dalei Mountain, where, at an altitude of 1,230 meters, a platform boasted a Mani pile built by predecessors. Tourists can pick up stones and build their own Mani pile.

4:30 PM

As the sun completely sinks below the horizon, the color of the sky gradually changes from bright to deep.

The stars began to light up one by one, and night officially fell.

We stood on the top of Big Thunder Mountain, our hearts filled with gratitude for the day and longing for the starry sky at night.

After watching the sunset, everyone arrived at the Big Thunder Mountain camping site, found a suitable location, started to set up camp, and packed their luggage. There would be professional leaders to teach or help everyone how to set up the tent.

11:00 PM

Everyone started to leave the tents, and the sky full of stars came into view.

Bring a lounge chair or a cushion, and we'll sit around the lights, share our day's fun, and tell each other stories.

You can bring board game cards such as Script Killing/Werewolf Killing to make the waiting less boring!

The light illuminates everyone's face, warm and friendly.

There was silence all around, with only the occasional chirping of insects and the sound of breeze rustling the leaves.

We held our breath and seemed to hear the ticking of time in our ears.

Notes:
1. Sunrises, sunsets, the Milky Way, and seas of clouds are natural phenomena. Whether you can see them during your trip depends on the weather. Thank you for your understanding.
2. Dalei Mountain is at a high altitude and temperatures are low, so please dress warmly!
3. Outdoor safety is paramount. Heavy-duty campers are required to bring essential gear for their own safety. Please take this seriously!
4. Mandatory equipment for winter heavy-duty camping: a sleeping bag rated for sub-0°C, trekking poles, an emergency blanket, a heavy-duty bag, and a down jacket. Please take a photo and upload it for review upon registration. In spring and autumn, you can choose a sleeping bag of the appropriate temperature rating based on the daily temperature.

Conventional route: Since the bus cannot enter the starting point of the hike, we need to change to a car to enter the starting point of the hike, Heyewan Village. The cost of changing to a car is 16 yuan per person round trip. Please be aware.

Acknowledge:

1. Due to the high probability of traffic jams during holidays (Labor Day, National Day, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival), arrival times will be later than usual, and there is a high probability of walking at night. Whether it is the risk of night climbing or the choice of camping location, the intensity of the conventional large loop route is not suitable for camping activities. Therefore, we will arrange a unified arrangement of small cars + Da Leishan lazy route to go up the mountain.

2. Lazy route: We need to take a car from the regular starting point farm to the "Shanwang" hiking starting point (the car ride is expected to be about 1 hour, and the one-way car fare is 80/person at your own expense. The leader will collect it in the car and then pay it to the farmer on site). After arriving, we will hike to the top of the mountain to camp (this hike only takes more than 1 hour to reach the top, which is more suitable for the general physical requirements) so that we have more time to camp and hike down the mountain normally the next morning.

Driving time: Shanghai to Daleishan one-way trip about 4.5 hours

Hiking: Day 1: 7km + 1100m of climbing (two-step data) Meteor Shower Season Lazy Route: 3km + 250m of climbing (two-step data)

Notes: 1. Sunrises, sunsets, the Milky Way, and meteor showers are natural phenomena. Whether you can see them during your trip depends on the actual weather. Thank you for your support and understanding.
2. There is limited space at the summit, so please choose a spot to pitch your tent immediately upon reaching the summit. 3.
Tent camping is limited, so please make sure you have access to restrooms before ascending the mountain! 4.
There is no light source at the summit at night, so please bring a headlamp, flashlight, or camping lantern. 5.
Da Lei Mountain is at a high altitude and temperatures can be low, so please dress warmly!
6. Route development is challenging, so please observe outdoor ethics. Team members must ensure their equipment is up to standard before re-equipping.
7. There are ridgeline fire roads along the route, so those with a fear of heights should be aware.
8. There is no water source at the summit of Da Lei Mountain, but there is a small shop at the base of the mountain. It is recommended to bring plenty of water before ascending. There are waterfalls and streams along the first half of the hike, so you can bring your own water bag to fill up, filter, and boil water on the way up the mountain.

Day 2 Daleishan → Heyewan Village → Shanghai

04:45

Watch the sunrise! ! ! !

As the night slowly fades away, the world is immersed in tranquility.

The stars gradually disappeared, and the sky changed from dark blue to light gray, heralding the arrival of a new day.

We went to watch the sunrise under the guidance of our tour leader.

At this moment, we are standing on the top of Big Thunder Mountain, breathing the first breath of air in the morning, feeling the peace and tranquility of nature🌄🌄.

Then I returned, rested and took a nap.

08:00

We ate some breakfast we brought with us and started to break camp.

Then I cleaned up the garbage around me and tidied up the tent.

Fulfill the LNT rule for every outdoor person.

No trace camping, no trace in the mountains!!

We took the garbage down the mountain

We broke camp and started to go down the mountain. The whole way was a gentle downhill walk with outstanding scenery. We walked along the ridge line all the way with a wide view and beautiful scenery!

Going down the mountain is a firebreak, interspersed with dirt roads, passing through rocky sections, reaching the mechanized farming section and finally going down the mountain.

12:00

Everyone arrived at Heyewan Village at the foot of the mountain one after another.

The bus had been waiting at the foot of the mountain for a long time. After packing up, we boarded the bus and started our journey back to Shanghai.

On the way back, we have time to reminisce about every detail of our journey.

The people we met, the scenery we saw, and the stories we experienced have all become our precious memories, replaying one by one in our minds as the bus travels.

On the way back, we will stop at a service area for everyone to replenish supplies, use the toilet, and relieve fatigue from the journey.

6:00 PM

Back to Shanghai, ending our reloading journey, we kissed goodbye with tears and made plans for the next one!

Driving time: Daleishan to Shanghai one way: about 4.5 hours

Hiking: Day 2: 7.5km of heavy data, almost all downhill, it is recommended to wear trekking poles and knee pads

Notes: 1. Sunrises, sunsets, the Milky Way, meteor showers, and other natural phenomena are all natural phenomena. Whether or not you can see them during your trip depends on the actual weather. Thank you for your support and understanding.

one.

Q: Do I need to carry the camping equipment up the mountain by myself? Is it far?

A: This route is an outdoor route, and camping equipment needs to be carried up the mountain by yourself.

two.

Q: Can this cable only be reinstalled?

A: Yes, because there are no farmhouses or hotels on Dalei Mountain. We get up early to watch the sunrise on the top of the mountain, then rest, pack up and carry our luggage down the mountain.

three.

Q: Is it convenient to go to the toilet on the mountain?

A: Since we are camping outdoors, we try to solve the toilet problem before going up the mountain.

Dalei Mountain, with its main peak at 1,229.4 meters above sea level, forms the watershed between the Yong'an and Shifeng Streams. Its ridge extends from Xiaopan Mountain, a branch of the Xianxialing Mountains, to connect southwest with Qingmingjian (also known as Qingmeijian), winding northeastward along the western city boundary before turning east into the city. The main mountain range runs northeast-southwest, with a steep southwest ridge featuring peaks over a thousand meters tall, such as Yangtianping, Zhudapinggang, Ershijianbei, Panlonggang, and Qimagang. Extending northeastward, it passes through Antouling and Damushao Mountain to Chifeng Mountain (804 meters above sea level), where it is cut by the Shifeng Creek. Remaining branches east of the creek extend throughout the north-central part of the city. The mountains south of the Tiantai Basin and north of the Xianju Basin are all tributaries of Dalei Mountain.
