Hangzhou · Longjing Secret Land | Searching for the Sky Mirror in Tea Fields and Checking in at the Twin Reservoirs

Day 1 Nanjing → Fuyang → Nanjing

07:00

Meet at Exit 1 of Andemen Subway Station on time between 7:00 and 7:15 in the morning to sign in.

07:15

We got on the bus on time and, led by the team leader, laughed and talked all the way, and before we knew it, we were approaching our destination.

10:45

Arrive at Xishan Forest Park, the starting point of the hike.

We then began our hike along the ancient trail, ascending the mountainside amidst lush greenery and fresh air. Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, we had ample time to savor this rare tranquility. We overlooked the Dayangwu Reservoir, offering a breathtaking view and emerald green waters, a hidden gem few people have ever known.
This section also marks a section of the Tofu Skin Ancient Trail, a millennium-old path. Now restored, it allows visitors to witness the hardships endured by the ancestors of Fuyang's Dongwu Mountain. Along this route, they sold baskets of tofu skin to restaurants and temples in Hangzhou, where they would buy soybeans for their return trips.
We then reached the first reservoir, Dayangwu Reservoir, where we rested briefly
before continuing on our journey. Along the way, we'd enjoy a unique vantage point overlooking Guangming Temple Reservoir—a truly unique photo opportunity!
Emerging from the mountains, the view opened up to a thousand acres of tea plantations. The colors and scenery were truly soothing! Tea farmers busily harvested tea leaves in the fields, creating a scene resembling blossoms blooming on a carpet of green. It's these busy bees that create the fragrant tea we savor!

4:00 PM

After finishing the hike
, we arrived at Weekend Tea Space, which is our destination. Everyone can rest here freely, buy drinks, refill hot water for free, check in and take photos, wait for the tail end of the group to arrive, or visit the surrounding tea houses. After replenishing, you can return.

7:30 PM

We arrived at the starting point and kissed goodbye with tears in our eyes!

Driving time: about 3.5 hours

The Tofu Skin Ancient Road, an ancient mountain path connecting Dongwushan Village in Shoujiang, Fuyang, and Longwu in Hangzhou, boasts a history of nearly a thousand years. Over a thousand years ago, the ancestors of Dongwushan carried their homemade tofu skins on their shoulders and hands, crossing Wuchao Mountain on the border between Hangzhou and Fuyang, creating their own version of the "Silk Road." This ancient road, built during the Sui and Tang dynasties, facilitated the tofu skin trade between Dongwushan and Hangzhou, and continued to be used as recently as the 1950s. The ancient road, which leads to Hangzhou, was a place where villagers sold tofu skins elsewhere. The road, over 5,000 meters long and about one meter wide, consists of stone steps and slabs. The pavement is relatively well-preserved, and numerous temple ruins remain along the way. Ascending the stone steps, the moss-covered trails speak of its ancient simplicity and the difficulty of its construction.
