Local specialties: Funing Food City, Zherong beef balls, Lao Xue sweet potato cups, oyster cakes, etc.
Day 2 Xiapu → Yushan Island → Dongbi Village → Xiapu
·morning
【Fairy Mountain on the Sea·Yishan Island】
After breakfast, we departed from Sansha Wharf and headed to Yushan Island, the fairy mountain on the sea (regular ferry at 9:30, the time may fluctuate during holidays or weekends)
Geographic China commented on Yishan Island: "Located in the southeast, it has the scenery of the alpine meadows of the northwest; although it is an island, it also has the crystal clear Tianhu Lake."
The wonder of Mount Yishan lies in its "Heavenly Lake".
We walked along the scenic trail, passing through meadows and lakes. The sky, white clouds, lake water, and green grass were all beautiful. The Tianhu Lake, like a jasper inlaid on the mountaintop, reflected the sea of clouds in the tea garden. No matter how we took the photo, it was a good shot. (The Tianhu Scenic Area requires a light hike, so it is recommended to wear comfortable sneakers)
·afternoon
【Sunset over the Orange Sea, Dongbi Village】
Dongbi Village, nestled between the mountains and the sea, enjoys a high elevation and boasts a wide westward view. As the sun sets, golden sunlight bathes the bay, mudflats, fishing boats, and wavy beaches.
The East Wall is also the starting point of our Xiapu coastline tour. We headed to the Light and Shadow Plank Road, where we could take in the vast ocean. We also waited for the sunset at Yugongting Beach or the Gangwei Bridge Observation Deck, where any photo opportunity was stunning! (Viewing locations may change depending on holiday traffic and crowds.)
·night
Return to Xiapu County in the evening
After today's trip, you can return to the hotel to rest or go to Dongguan Night Market to explore Xiapu.
Day 3 Xiapu → Haiwei Cape → Dajing Beach → Danwan → Xiawei Island → Xiapu County
·morning
After breakfast, we headed to the southern coastline and drove on the Donghai No.
[Cape Haiwei] The Santorini-style blue and white castle is very photogenic on a sunny day, and you can even see the Burj Khalifa at low tide;
Dajing Beach is known as the "No. 1 Beach in Eastern Fujian." Its fine, pure sand gleams golden in the sun. The nearly 3-kilometer-long coastline resembles a crescent moon, creating a natural spectacle alongside the azure waters and jagged reefs. The beach is nestled against a lush coastal shelterbelt, creating a unique "oasis embedded in golden sand" landscape. At low tide, the shallows are dotted with shells and small crabs. The beach offers a wealth of marine experiences, including a "lying flat" excursion (approximately 1.5-2 hours).
·afternoon
Follow the Donghai No. 1 to the Danwan Observation Deck, where you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains, forests, and sea. It is arguably the most beautiful observation deck on the Donghai No. 1.
Xiawei Island, located on a peninsula southeast of Xiapu County, Fujian Province, is a wonder carved by waves over millions of years. Its massive arched cave resembles a giant dragon, and the jagged volcanic rock textures of the cave ceiling create a striking contrast with the azure sea and sky. (The sea cave is accessible only during low tide, so we'll adjust our itinerary based on the tides.)
·night
Return to Xiapu County Hotel to rest in the evening
Day 4 Xiapu → Banyueli → Dongan Island
·morning
The beauty of Xiapu lies not only in the sea, but also in the mountains.
We will encounter the ancient She village hidden in the mountains - Banyueli
Banyueli, named after the village shape resembling a half moon, is a secret place of the She ethnic group. We took photos of our lives under the three hundred year old banyan tree at the entrance of the village, walked through the ancient residential area with blue bricks and black tiles, carved beams and painted buildings, and felt the unique charm of She ethnic architecture.
The village chief will lead us to visit the She ethnic group museum, meet the inheritor of the She ethnic group's intangible cultural heritage, listen to him talk about the She ethnic group culture, and have a face-to-face conversation with the village chief.
·afternoon
Let’s take a dreamy seaside pastoral trip to Dong’an Island Fish Farm!
Dong'an Island is the second largest island in Xiapu. Its gourd-shaped harbor provides a natural shelter, ideal for marine aquaculture. Hundreds of thousands of fish cages and hundreds of small cabins stretch across a kilometer, creating a floating town known as the "Venice of the Sea."
Dong'an fishing rafts breed large yellow croaker, long-haired shrimp, abalone, sea cucumber, kelp, etc., and are a "natural fish reservoir".
We boarded a boat to see the sea cucumbers, abalone, and yellow croaker farmed in cages, experiencing the fishermen's daily lives. We also experienced sea fishing and sea fishing from the cages, following the fishermen in casting their nets and feeling the joy of harvest. We even had our catch processed at a farm restaurant, allowing us to experience the fruits of our labor.
·night
Check in to Ningde city at night
Day 5 Sandu'ao → → Return
·morning
Depart for [Sanduo Island, the main island of Sandu’ao]
We will start our journey of exploration on Xiapu's most exotic island with a century-old history.
Sandu'ao was opened to the public in 1899. The Fuzhou Customs on the island was once one of Fujian's three largest customs offices and a global leader in the tea trade. Twenty-six companies from Britain, the United States, Japan, and other countries established offices there, and merchants and ships flocked to the island. At its peak, the island had a population of over 25,000. Its prime location also made it a target of Japanese imperialism, who attempted to lease or occupy Sandu'ao several times over the decades. Thirty-seven years later, the Japanese army repeatedly attacked Sandu'ao.
After the fall of Fuzhou and Xiamen, Sandu'ao became a vital port for transporting anti-Japanese supplies throughout Fujian and even East China. In July 1941, the Japanese army landed again and blew up or burned every house in Sandu'ao, bringing decades of development to a complete standstill. The streets were razed to the ground, leaving the people homeless and devastated.
We mainly visited the Catholic Church, Luocuoli Monastery, the Monastery, the former site of the Fuzhou Customs Commissioner, and other attractions (Sanduoao is currently a military port, so please be careful not to take photos at the pier)
·afternoon
