14-Day Cycling Tour of March 18th | 400km to Unlock the Sichuan-Tibet Dream on Wheels

Day 1 Across the country → → Chengdu

Following the China-TravelNote departure notification text message, proceed to the meeting hotel on your own and provide your "China-TravelNote + name" at the front desk to check in. Please keep your mobile phone accessible so the tour leader can contact you. Please exercise caution during free time. Cyclists from across the country gather in Chengdu to begin their Sichuan-Tibet Highway journey. In the evening, we will hold a pre-trip briefing, collect our gear, and sample Chengdu cuisine to prepare for the journey ahead.

Day 2 Chengdu → Kangding

Today's itinerary

After breakfast, depart Chengdu and drive 170 kilometers to Tianquan County, where you will have lunch. Cycle 30-40 kilometers along National Highway 318, your first experience of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway. Then, transfer to Kangding and check into your hotel.

Day 3 Kangding → → Yajiang

Today's itinerary

After breakfast, we'll ride to Zheduotang for a high-altitude bike ride (approximately 5 kilometers), check in at Zheduo Mountain, and experience the majesty of the "First Pass of Kham." We'll then drive to Xinduqiao for lunch. In the afternoon, we'll cycle 5-10 kilometers, check in at Gaolusi Mountain, and then continue on to Yajiang.

Day 4 Yajiang → Litang

Today's itinerary

After breakfast, visit the Eighteen Bends of the Sky Road and the Scissor Bend Mountain to experience the winding beauty of the plateau highway. Cycle 20 kilometers (mostly uphill) through the plateau meadows and enjoy a light lunch at the Kangba Hanzi Viewing Platform. In the afternoon, cycle 15 kilometers to visit Kazila Mountain and the City in the Sky. Then, travel by bus to Litang to experience the charm of the "World's Highest City."

Day 5 Litang → Batang

Today's itinerary

After breakfast, check in at the West Gate of Litang City. Cycle 40-50 kilometers (mostly flat roads) across the Maoya Grassland and experience the tranquility of the Wuliang River. In the afternoon, cycle 20 kilometers (mostly rolling roads) to check in at Haizi Mountain and Sister Lake, then travel by bus to Batang.

Day 6 Batang → Rumei Town

Today's itinerary

In the morning, we'll cycle 30 kilometers (mostly flat roads), check in at the Jinsha River Bridge, and experience the magnificent Sichuan-Tibet border. We'll check in at Zong La Mountain, then drive to Mangkang for lunch. In the afternoon, we'll cycle 5-15 kilometers (mostly uphill), check in at Kala Wu Mountain, and then drive to Rumei Town.

Day 7 Rumei Town → Bangda

Today's itinerary

After breakfast, we'll cycle 10 kilometers (mostly gentle climbs) in the morning to reach Dongda Mountain, the highest point on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway. In the afternoon, we'll cycle 30-50 kilometers (mostly rolling roads) along the Yuqu River, experiencing the majestic beauty of the plateau river.

Day 8 Bangda → → Basu

Today's itinerary

After breakfast, cycle 5-15 kilometers (mostly uphill) in the morning, visiting Yela Mountain. You'll also see the 72 bends of the Nujiang River and the Nujiang Bridge, experiencing the thrill and magnificence of the "Sky Road." In the afternoon, cycle 20-30 kilometers (mostly uphill and rolling) to Basu.

Day 9 Basu → Bomi

Today's itinerary

After breakfast, we'll take a bus to the 30th North Latitude Observation Deck and Mount Anjiula, experiencing the vastness of the plateau. In the afternoon, we'll cycle 40 kilometers (mainly on flat and rolling roads) to visit Ranwu Lake and the Parlung Tsangpo River, experiencing the interplay of snow-capped mountains and lakes.

Day 10 Bomi → Lulang

After breakfast, cycle 20 kilometers to visit Zangwang Cave and the 4000km Snow Mountain Viewing Platform on National Highway 318. In the afternoon, cycle 15 kilometers (mostly uphill) to visit the Kama Mountain Pass and experience the precipitous Sichuan-Tibet Highway.

Day 11 Lulang Rest Day

The team leader led everyone to the Lulang alpine pasture to pick mushrooms, taste the special stone pot chicken, visit the Lulang Gongcuo Lake, and enjoy a leisurely plateau time.

Day 12 Lulang → → Nyingchi

After breakfast, cycle 5-15 kilometers (mostly uphill) to visit the Karulang Forest Sea and Sejila Mountain, with a view of Mount Namjagbarwa. In the afternoon, cycle 30 kilometers (mostly flat) along the Kanyang River and the Yarlung Zangbo River, then return to Nyingchi by bus.

Day 13 Nyingchi → Gongbu Gyamda

After breakfast, we'll drive to Kamila Mountain and Sijin Lacuo to experience the majesty of the last high mountain on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway. Arrive in Lhasa in the afternoon, where we'll receive camp certificates and hold a celebratory dinner to celebrate the successful conclusion of our journey.
