Agra, located on the banks of the Yamuna River in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, is commonly referred to by Thais as 'Akhra'. It is situated 363 kilometers west of Lucknow, the capital of the state, and 200 kilometers south of New Delhi.
One of the city's most notable landmarks is the Taj Mahal, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
The Agra Fort (sometimes called the Red Fort) is another UNESCO World Heritage Site in Agra. Inscriptions found near the entrance gate indicate that the fort was built before the year 1000 AD.
There are many other interesting places in Agra that should not be missed when visiting India.
