#asiabudgetchallenge Omoriyama Zoo (also known as Akita City Omoriyama Zoo or Milve) is a beautiful hillside zoo in Akita Park, spread across roughly 15 hectares. With over 500 animals of 90–114 species—including snow leopards, Arctic wolves, red pandas, giraffes, capybaras, and Amur tigers—it blends naturalistic exhibits and engaging animal events . Highlights include Manma Time (keeper-led feeding), Nakayoshi Time (petting small animals), and a “Feeding Experience” opportunity for kids and adults . The Asove no Mori aerial playground runs through animal zones, offering panoramic views—plus the adjacent Anipa amusement park with a Ferris wheel and coaster.
Rough Budget:
• Admission: ¥730 (adults); high‑school and younger: free (ID required)
• Feeding experience: ¥100 per cup
• Meals: approx. ¥1,000
Travel Tip / Hack:
Visit on weekdays outside winter to avoid closures or crowded weekends. Combine your visit with the nearby amusement park and parkland, and pick up the annual pass (¥1,250) if planning a second trip within the year
