Yanhu Scenic Area, formerly known as Xiwaigu, stretches from Dongling in the east to Xiaozhou Mountain in the west, Benjue Temple in the south, and Yanhugang in the north. It is 7.2 kilometers wide from east to west and 7.8 kilometers long from north to south, covering an area of approximately 57 square kilometers. The area boasts over 50 scenic features, including 12 peaks, 6 crags, 8 waterfalls, 6 caves, 2 gates, and 2 valleys. The area is renowned for its lakes, waterfalls, peaks, and valleys. "Yanhu" is the origin of the name Yandang Mountain, which Xu Xiake called "the home of wild geese." Climbing the hill offers breathtaking views of the sea of clouds and the spectacular sunrise.
Wenzhou has a mid-subtropical monsoon climate zone, with significant alternation between winter and summer monsoons, moderate temperatures, distinct four seasons, and abundant rainfall.
All seasons are suitable for visiting, but spring and autumn are the best.
The Meiyu Waterfall with its drifting mist, the Luodai Waterfall that looks like a drooping silk ribbon, the mysterious and bizarre Xida Waterfall, the Hanzhu Peak, Shibiao Peak and Yutu Peak that are shaped like hidden objects, as well as the peculiar and secluded Tiyun Valley and Xishiliang Cave are all scenic spots.

The scenic area is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. The best times to visit are during spring and autumn when the weather is mild and the natural beauty is at its peak.
The entrance fee is approximately ¥40. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance or online via local ticketing websites for convenience.
It is not necessary to book tickets in advance, but during peak seasons or weekends, booking ahead might save time.
Exploring the main areas, including the lakes, temples, and trails, typically takes around 2-3 hours.

Night visits and light shows are not available. It’s best to visit during the daytime to fully appreciate the natural beauty.
The area can get crowded on weekends and public holidays. To avoid the crowds, visit early in the morning or on weekdays.
Basic facilities such as toilets and rest areas are available. Small shops selling snacks and drinks are also present. Bring your own water if planning to hike extensively.
The main paths and areas around the lakes are accessible to elderly visitors and children. However, some of the hiking trails may be challenging for those with mobility issues.
