A unique event is currently being held at the Akita City Cultural Creation Center, located in the heart of Akita City. The event, called "Folk Tools Lab," is a project where collector Mitsuo Aburaya, who has spent over 70 years gathering everyday tools, collaborates with researchers and citizen volunteers to classify, organize, record, and exhibit these items.
In the exhibition area, visitors can get a close look at essential items for life in snowy regions, such as winter clothing, farming tools, and old kitchen utensils. The worn textures of wood and fabric convey the wisdom and seasonal life of Akita.
Additionally, satellite exhibitions and interactive programs are being held at various locations in the city, including the basement of Akita Station and the Meitokukan Building. It's a perfect opportunity to experience Akita's lifestyle and culture during your visit.
