Aktau: A Trip to a Healing Caspian Sea Town, with a Few Bumps Along the Way.

Travel is like opening a blind box, full of the unknown and surprises, and of course, occasionally a few minor mishaps. Just like my trip to Aktau, Kazakhstan. Although I experienced some setbacks, I also gained unique travel memories. Now, I'll share this valuable Aktau travel guide with everyone.

Unexpected Hiccups: A Small Interlude at the Start of the Trip

On the second day after arriving in Aktau, I unfortunately caught a cold, feeling dizzy and unwell, perhaps due to the hostel's low air conditioning temperature or the Caspian Sea's chilly wind. To make matters worse, I woke up to find some of my belongings stolen. Here's a reminder for everyone: never leave your personal belongings in public areas at hostels. The environment is complex, and theft can easily occur if you're not careful. But even so, I wouldn't let this small setback dampen my enthusiasm for exploring this city.

Currency Exchange and Seaside Stroll

After adjusting my mood, I exchanged some local currency, Tenge, and headed straight to the seaside to begin my city walk. Aktau is a small city, so a detailed travel guide seems unnecessary, as almost all the attractions are along the Caspian Sea. You can cover everything by walking along the coastline. The cost of living here is relatively lower than in Almaty, although the greenery is less impressive, and the areas further from the coast are quite sandy. However, as I strolled along the beach, watching the waves lap against the shore and feeling the gentle sea breeze, I was quickly captivated by the charm of this small city. Walking leisurely by the sea, time seemed to slow down, and everything became relaxed and enjoyable.

Checking in at the Attractions: Experiencing the City's Charm

Walking along the Caspian Sea coastline, you can admire Aktau's unique cityscape. The city's infrastructure has its own distinct characteristics. While it lacks the hustle and bustle of a big city, it possesses a simple beauty. Along the way, I passed by many places where locals relaxed and enjoyed themselves. Seeing the smiles on their faces, I was infected by this simple joy. In Aktau, you can truly experience the essence of life, without excessive noise and disturbance, only tranquility and peace.

Food Guide: Surprises at Affordable Supermarkets

If you don't want to dine out, the local supermarket, DANA, is a good choice. They offer a variety of delicious ready-to-eat meals at more affordable prices than elsewhere. When you're tired from sightseeing, buying some food from DANA and taking it back to the hostel to enjoy is a unique experience. Sitting by the hostel window, savoring the supermarket delicacies, gazing at the scenery outside, and experiencing Aktau's slow pace of life is incredibly pleasant.

Caspian Sunset: A Touching Farewell

During my days in Aktau, just like my previous experiences by the Mediterranean and Black Seas, I once again encountered a beautiful Caspian sunset. Sitting by the Caspian Sea at sunset, listening to "The Outside World," with the sea breeze blowing and the afterglow shining on me, I felt a deep reluctance to leave this journey, but I also knew it was time to go back. This sunset painted a warm and unforgettable end to my Aktau trip.

Aktau, this small city by the Caspian Sea, may not be perfect, but it has a unique charm. It allowed me to experience the ups and downs of travel and to encounter different cultures and customs. If you're looking for a niche and special trip, consider visiting Aktau. I believe you'll also find your own beautiful memories here.
