As soon as I stepped into the Tengger Desert, the endless golden sands resembled a vast ocean, while Ulan Lake stood out like a ruby embedded within, vibrant and dazzling. July is the season when the lake turns red, as the high temperatures stimulate the Dunaliella salina and halophilic bacteria in the lake to release large amounts of carotenoids, dyeing the water a mesmerizing red, akin to the lifeblood flowing through the heart of the Earth 💗

From a low-angle view by the lakeside, the red waters of the lake contrast sharply with the golden desert, creating a striking visual impact that touches the soul. When the drone takes flight, the heart-shaped outline of Ulan Lake becomes clear from a bird's-eye view, surrounded by white saline patterns resembling vascular networks. The breathtaking scene left me speechless, marveling at the wonders of nature.

We chose the "Five Lakes Traverse" route: Camel Lake - Ulan Lake - Swan Lake - Hailuqi Lake - Guitar Lake. Along the way, the scenery was ever-changing. Camel Lake's pink waters complemented the golden dunes, exuding a girlish charm; Ulan Lake's stunning red stole the spotlight; Hailuqi Lake and Guitar Lake each had their unique allure, together forming a fantastical aquatic world amidst the desert 🌈

The best time to visit is between July and September, when the lake is at its reddest and perfect for photography. Morning or evening shots are recommended, as the soft light enhances the lake's vibrant colors, making every photo look like a masterpiece 📸
