A Journey Through Time at the Royal Automobile Museum

During our stay in Amman, we had the chance to visit the Royal Automobile Museum, a must-visit for anyone fascinated by history, cars, or the royal heritage of Jordan. Opened in 2003, the museum displays an impressive array of vehicles associated with King Hussein of Jordan, illustrating important moments in the country's history with a stunning array of classic and modern cars. Strolling through the museum felt like traveling back in time, as each vehicle conveyed a unique story. The exhibits feature a variety of vehicles, from vintage Rolls-Royces and classic Mercedes-Benz models to robust military vehicles and high-performance sports cars. Notable pieces included the Lincoln Capri used by King Hussein during his 1955 visit to Jerusalem, the Mercedes 600 Pullman, and the Mars Rover replica from The Martian, filmed in Jordan’s Wadi Rum.One aspect we particularly valued was the museum’s excellent curation. Each car is presented with historical context, photos, and multimedia displays that explain its importance. The museum goes beyond automobiles, offering insight into Jordan’s modernization and global influence through its leaders. We spent over an hour immersed in the exhibits, admiring both the craftsmanship of the vehicles and the intriguing stories they told. For fans of cars and history, the Royal Automobile Museum is a fantastic destination in Amman. Its collection is distinctive, the layout is straightforward, and the historical connections make it more than just a car display—it’s a celebration of Jordan's past and its international connections. If you're in Amman, this museum is definitely worth checking out!
