Located on the outskirts of Georgia's capital, Tbilisi,
on the military road north to Kazbegi,
Ananuri Fortress Complex is one of Georgia's top tourist attractions.

This complex, dating back to the 16th century, combines an Armenian church, a military fortress, and even residential buildings.

A popular photo spot, this abandoned castle stands on the shore of Lake Zimbardi.

Surrounded by the turquoise blue lake, it's supposed to be a picturesque sight... but unfortunately, a light rain made it cloudy.

Admission is free.
Local tours to Kazbegi always include this fortress, so joining one is the quickest way to see it.
