Changbai Mountain Tianchi Lake is different from what you imagine, the world's highest crater lake

I imagined Changbai Mountain Tianchi to be very dreamy, set in green and ethereal mountains, like a shining pearl like Hasstatt. However, after visiting it in person, I found out that Changbai Mountain is a volcano and Tianchi is a crater lake. The surrounding geology is bare and barren, like the terrain of Mars, without a trace of life.

Due to the high and dangerous terrain of Changbai Mountain, Tianchi has become the highest crater lake in the world, but the weather is also bad and it is shrouded in gray clouds all year round. When I visited, I was a little disappointed that the lake was not as beautiful as Lake Mashu because there was no sunshine and the lake water was not transparent blue.

However, Tianchi Lake in Changbai Mountain plays a very important role in the performance. Firstly, it is located on the border between China and North Korea, with half of Tianchi Lake belonging to China and half to North Korea. Secondly, Tianchi Lake is also the source of three rivers: Songhua River, Yalu River and Tumen River, which flow into the vast snowy northeast.

It snowed before we left, making the weather even worse. It wasn't as picturesque as the photos on the Internet. Instead, it was dangerous and muddy, so we had to evacuate quickly. This Changbai Mountain Tianchi was not what we had imagined.
