There are three ways to go to Baekdu Mountain in China: North, West, and South. North takes a shuttle bus to Tianchi. It is the most popular. West takes about 1,400 steps. It has the advantage of being closer to Tianchi than North and having fewer tourists. South is located close to North Korea and has fewer people who can go, making it difficult to get tickets. I went to North.

I went on April 22, 2025. At that time, the weather was bad, so Tianchi was not open, so I couldn't go.

When you arrive at Jangbaeksan Station and go outside, there is a bus right away. If you take this, you can go to the North tourist site of Jangbaeksan (Baekdusan). It takes 1 hour.

1️⃣ Hot spring area, Jangbaek Waterfall
The first place you will see when you take the first shuttle bus is the hot spring area. The boiled eggs and corn sold here are famous for their hot spring water. 3 eggs cost 10 yuan. If you go up a little further past the hot spring area, you will come across Jangbaek Falls.

2️⃣ Socheonji
This is where I arrived after taking the second shuttle bus. Even though the middle of the lake was frozen due to the cold weather, the color was pretty. There was a temple nearby.

3️⃣ Nokyeondam
The third shuttle bus was very short. I think it dropped me off right in front of Chaegamsan.

4️⃣ Underground Forest
After touring Nokyeondam, when you return to the shuttle bus stop, there are several places to wait in line. The first line was for Underground Forest. If you get off the shuttle bus and walk 1.5km, you will come across a place with a great view of Baekdu Mountain. I highly recommend walking all the way to the end.
