[Armenia] Noravank Monastery, one of Armenia's treasures

#TravelTips

In southwestern Armenia, near the border with Iran,
Rising high in a steep valley deep in the mountains, is Noravank Monastery, considered one of Armenia's greatest treasures.

Built in the 12th century, it is one of the most representative monasteries of medieval Armenia.
"Noravank" means "new monastery" in Armenian,
and the site contains three churches and a cloister.

The church is the last work of Momik, a renowned medieval architect and sculptor.

The interior of the church is small, but devout Christians were praying there, creating a truly mystical atmosphere.

You can look down on the monastery from the mountainside towering behind the church.

Admission is free.
The closest parking lot to the church is paid.
(The parking lot about 100 meters down the hill from the entrance is free.)

The red rock formation towering in front of the monastery is reminiscent of a sacred mountain and is mysterious.
And cherry blossom-like flowers were in bloom.
