[Shizuoka Prefecture/Kinomiya Shrine] A must-see shrine with a large camphor tree that is over 2,100 years old

In the third year of the Wadou era (710), a tree's roots got caught in a net three times in Atami Bay. When the fisherman enshrined what he saw as a statue under a pine tree, Isotake no Mikoto appeared to him in a dream. He received a divine message that the sound of the ocean was harsh to the ears, so he enshrined the statue at its current location. It is said that the tree's roots caught in the net were regarded as the deity, and so the shrine was given the name "Kinomiya" (Wood Palace).

The sacred grounds are surrounded by greenery, and the babbling sound of the river that runs parallel to the shrine is soothing to us.

Behind the shrine is a large camphor tree that is over 2,100 years old.
It has been designated a natural monument, and visitors can walk around the tree or view it from above, allowing them to enjoy their own time.
