When visiting Auckland, one must not miss the Auckland War Memorial Museum, a solemn yet culturally rich destination. This museum is not only a place to commemorate past wars but also serves as a starting point to explore New Zealand's history, natural wonders, and Maori culture.
📖 The museum boasts diverse exhibits, ranging from the natural geography of the North and South Islands, interactive displays on volcanoes and earthquakes, Maori carvings and traditional meeting houses, to retrospectives on the World Wars and New Zealand's military involvement. Each floor unveils stories unique to this land.
🌿 My favorite section is the Maori cultural exhibit. It showcases ancient crafts and vessels, as well as a recreated Maori meeting house, "Wharenui," adorned with intricate wood carvings and motifs. Sitting quietly within this space, one can truly feel the wisdom and spirit of the Maori people.
