📍 Location
Situated in the charming town of Devonport on Auckland's North Shore, Mount Victoria is the highest point in the area. Though not very tall, it offers expansive views, making it an ideal spot to overlook Auckland's cityscape and harbor.
⸻
🚶♂️ How to Get There
• From the city center:
1. Take a ferry from Downtown Ferry Terminal ➜ Devonport (approximately 12 minutes).
2. After disembarking, walk for about 10–15 minutes to reach the base of the hill. Follow Kerr Street uphill to find the entrance.
• By car:
You can drive directly to the summit, where there is a small parking lot. However, walking is recommended to better enjoy the scenic residential area along the way.

📝 Personal Thoughts
Mount Victoria is, in my opinion, the must-visit spot in Devonport. Although the "mountain" is not very high, the moment you reach the top, you'll genuinely feel like saying "Wow." The entire Auckland city skyline, harbor, Sky Tower, and ferry movements are all laid out before you.
I visited on a quiet weekday afternoon, and the summit was very peaceful, with only a few walkers and students around. I particularly loved the grassy platform with its wide-open views. The wind was a bit strong but pleasantly refreshing, making you want to sit there and daydream.
This place is also a photographer's paradise. You can take pictures next to the red mushroom-shaped gun emplacements (historical defense structures that now serve as artistic installations). The sight of the sunset casting its glow over the grass is truly poetic.
Devonport itself has a slow-paced vibe, and Mount Victoria amplifies this relaxed atmosphere to the fullest. If you have time, I highly recommend bringing some snacks or coffee for a picnic. It truly gives you that "This is the New Zealand lifestyle" feeling.
