Large-scale bare concrete buildings by Tadao Ando

After having enough food at Awaji Highway Oasis, we went to the first attraction on Awaji Island - Awaji Island Yumebutai. It takes less than 15 minutes to drive from Highway Oasis. After arriving, we parked the car in the parking lot near Grand Nikko Awaji.
Awaji Island Yumebutai is a large-scale work built by Mr. Tadao Ando using bare concrete. It integrates facilities such as an international conference hall, a leisure hotel, an outdoor theater, and a botanical garden.
First visit the "Miracle Star Botanical Garden", which is a 2-story glass greenhouse. Greenhouse plants include tropical plants, Japanese garden plants, orchids, etc. My sister just happened to prepare some props for me and gave me a surprised bridal shower. It was perfect to take photos in this place that looked like a Secret Garden 🪴!
Leaving the greenhouse, you will arrive at the "Hundred-section Garden", which is composed of 100 flower beds and is laid out regularly along the slope of the hillside, which is quite spectacular. But it was not spring yet when we went there, so we didn’t see any flowers, which made us feel a bit like a grave 😅
The last stop at Yumebutai is the Sea Church⛪️ and souvenir shop located in Grand Nikko Awaji. The church is not big, but it feels very different from other churches. The walls are made of cement. There is a large cross-shaped gap in the ceiling. Light passes through the gap and reflects the cross on the wall. The overall feel is modern. The souvenir shop sells similar items to those sold at Highway Oasis.
After strolling around leisurely and staying at Yumebutai for about 3 hours, we headed to the hot spring ♨️ hotel.
