We traveled to the largest wasabi garden in Japan and the largest in the world. Because growing wasabi requires a clean water source and constant flowing water, wasabi can grow well. Nagano Prefecture has water flowing through the Alps, which is a source of clean water. Therefore, wasabi can grow well here. The garden we are going to is called "Daio Wasabi Farm".

When you walk in, you will see a souvenir shop selling various souvenirs made from wasabi. The best seller with a long line is wasabi soft-serve ice cream. You might think, "Does it go well together? Ice cream with wasabi?" But let me tell you, the taste is not as strong as you think. The vanilla ice cream mixed with wasabi tastes a little like green tea. It only has a slight pungent smell. Anyone who has never tried it must try it at least once.

In addition to ice cream, there are also wasabi soda, wasabi croquettes, and wasabi curry rice for you to try. After we were full and tried all the food, we walked around the wasabi garden.

The garden here is large and quiet. When we walked around, we saw 2-3 gardeners picking wasabi plants. I'm not sure if they had already picked them in the morning, so there were only this many workers in the afternoon. But here, they focus on letting the wasabi plants grow naturally. They are planted in the soil under the water source and there are awnings to protect them from the sun.

After walking around for a while, the garden announced that it was almost time to close. The garden closes at 4:00 p.m. So we hurried to buy some souvenirs. I recommend the freshly ground wasabi here. I guarantee that the taste is different from the ready-made ones you've eaten anywhere else. And then it was time to go back. Where will we take you on the next trip? Stay tuned.
