Swiss Little Northeast

This is Xianren Valley in Baishan.

At the foot of the mountain lies Xianren Valley, and as you ascend, you'll reach the Yuan Musk Deer Nature Reserve. Along the way, you can spot many cows grazing peacefully.

In 2023, I visited a creek valley in Linjiang. On the way, I dined at a restaurant recommended by a local uncle. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the pig snout mushrooms were delicious (though you shouldn't eat them twice in one day, as it could be toxic, haha). This time, I returned to the same restaurant. During the journey, we drove a short stretch of G331 and arrived in Linjiang. Across the Yalu River was North Korea (our phones even switched to their time zone!). The riverside scenery was stunning, surrounded by mountains, making you want to take deep breaths of the fresh air. On the square, uncles and aunties were dancing against the backdrop of lush mountains and clear waters. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos, as I was too busy imagining how comfortable life must be in this city. 😌

That evening, we returned to Baishan City to stay overnight. The next morning, it only took a 30-minute drive to reach Xianren Valley. Along the way, we passed many villages, and the roadside was adorned with colorful flowers in full bloom (later, I found out they were called zinnias, also known as "step-up flowers" according to my grandma). From the moment we entered the mountain, we were greeted by a sea of green. A winding creek accompanied us along the way, and since it was the weekend, we occasionally saw campers by the creek, with watermelons 🍉 chilling in the stream. We took our time, stopping frequently. The mountain road was paved with stones, making it relatively easy to drive. Eventually, we reached an open area where the road ended. Since the area hasn’t been fully developed, there were no proper parking spaces, so we had to park by the roadside and continue on foot. I loved sitting there, enjoying the breeze and daydreaming. 🍃

I heard that if you go further up, there’s a stone forest. However, we didn’t have enough time for a round trip, so we decided to save it for next time. They say the stone forest in autumn is particularly breathtaking. ☺️
