Bilongtan, located northeast of Xiaotianchi Lake in Lushan Mountain, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, blends 2.5 million-year-old Quaternary glacial relics with a rich tapestry of historical, cultural, and natural landscapes. It is the essence of Lushan's natural scenery. Known as Lushan's " First Pond , " it's often said, " Once you've visited Bilongtan, you won't want to leave . "
The scenic area has a valley with a total length of more than 2,000 meters and more than 30 natural attractions . The scenery is unique, primitive, quiet, with rugged peaks, steep cliffs, misty clouds, clear and refreshing water, attractive green mountains, strange rocks, double waterfalls like dragons emerging from the cave, and two dragons playing with a pearl in the pool.
Before the 1930s , Bilongtan was little known. In 1930 , after being dismissed from office by the late Qing government, the renowned modern poet Chen Sanli traveled extensively on Mount Lushan, seeking refuge in the natural landscape. In his twilight years, he discovered this undiscovered wonder. After touring the various scenic spots on Mount Lushan, Chen Sanli inscribed "Tingpu Pavilion" on a stele, exclaiming: " I doubt that the Sandiequan Spring in the south of the mountain and the other scenic spots in Qingyu Gorge can compare to it. "
The waterfalls in the scenic area are particularly spectacular 2-3 days after rain .
