[China] Floating island of nuns in the sky! "Yaqing Temple" in eastern Tibet

Yaqing Temple, commonly known as Yachen Gar Gompa, is located in eastern Tibet in Sichuan Province, China.

In the high mountain area of eastern Tibet, surrounded by mountains with an altitude of 4,000 meters, there are many temples originating from Tibetan Buddhism, including Larung Garung Gompa.

Yacheng Gar Gompa is one of them.

What is particularly noteworthy is that it is a floating island where approximately 20,000 nuns live.

It seems that it used to be completely off-limits to men,
but in recent years, a number of male monks seem to live there as well.

The nuns, dressed in red robes, strive to be as self-sufficient as possible,
and if anything breaks, they try to repair it themselves, practicing thorough frugality.

There are countless small barracks like birdhouses around the floating island,
which are apparently huts for meditation and other training.

Tourists must show their ID (passport for foreigners) at the entrance to enter Yaqing Temple.
The admission fee itself was free. I think

There are shops and bank ATMs on the premises,
and it has a surprisingly modern aspect

Basically it is a place of training, and the nuns are not very friendly, but it is a popular tourist spot

By the way, it seems that there has been large-scale construction work on the floating island in recent years, so the exterior may have changed slightly now
