It might be a very appropriate name to say that the High Terrace Park is the "balcony" of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. As the name suggests, this park is built on a high ground in Baku, adjacent to the old city of Baku and overlooking the blue Caspian Sea. If you stop here and look out, you can have a panoramic view of the entire city of Baku. It is said that the night view is even more brilliant and charming.
The High Terrace Park is located next to Baku’s landmark, the Flame Towers. These are actually three separate buildings - a luxury hotel,
An office building and an apartment, designed in the shape of a flame, together form a landmark in Baku. Azerbaijan, famous for its oil production and wealth, is also known as the "Land of Fire". The Flame Towers represent the long-standing and endless worship of fire here.
Also related to fire is the ever-burning "True Flame Tower" in Gaodai Park - the eternal flame in the Independence Heroes Memorial Tower. This is to commemorate the soldiers who died in Azerbaijan's wars and conflicts (mainly with Armenia). Relying on the huge profits brought by oil, Azerbaijan, with its greatly increased military strength, has gained the upper hand in the conflict with Armenia.
The High Platform Park is the best viewing platform in Baku. The azure waters of the Baku Bay of the Caspian Sea ripple with the waves, and cruise ships, yachts and Ferris wheels on the seashore embellish this vast scenery. At sunset, the sea breeze is particularly pleasant. The setting sun dyed the towering Flame Towers a warm golden color. Local people were strolling and sitting on the beach. It was a relaxing and lazy evening in Baku.
