Baku's Old Town (Icheri Sheher) is the historic heart of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Its cozy stone streets, ancient city walls, balconies of old houses, and numerous handicraft shops create the atmosphere of a truly oriental city.
Wandering through the Old Town feels like stepping back in time. The scenery is particularly beautiful from dusk to night, when the narrow streets are bathed in soft light and the towers offer breathtaking views of modern Baku.
Remember to wear comfortable shoes, as the streets are cobblestone. While the walk can be steep in places, the cool night breeze is a pleasant experience.
