Last month, my boyfriend and I traveled to Ubud, Bali, and stayed at the Gayatri Hotel, which was an amazing choice. The hotel is located right next to Monkey Forest Road in central Ubud, making it very convenient. Just a few steps away are the Ubud Palace, Monkey Forest, and the market. There are also many yoga studios, restaurants, and shops nearby, all within a 10-minute walk, so there’s no need to worry about transportation.
The hotel's location is a major highlight—it's in the city center, making it easy to get anywhere, yet it’s not on a busy main road, so it’s very quiet. Our villa was decorated in traditional Balinese style and was absolutely beautiful. The hotel’s facilities were excellent, with a refreshing pool that was perfect for relaxing in the afternoon to escape the heat. Plus, the hotel offers dry cleaning services, so you don’t have to worry about your clothes during the trip.
Our check-in experience was smooth, and the staff were very friendly. Even though we arrived quite late, we were still offered welcome drinks, which was great. Waking up to enjoy a delicious breakfast on the balcony was truly a feast for the senses. The breakfast provided by the hotel was very rich, including homemade granola, Indonesian fried rice, fried tofu, toast, avocado pancakes, and more. There were plenty of options, including vegetarian and dairy-free choices, catering to all kinds of tastes.
The breakfast service was really thoughtful, allowing us to enjoy our meal every morning on the balcony or by the pool. We also tried the hotel’s vegetarian dishes. I was initially worried I wouldn’t like them, but the Indonesian fried rice and fried tofu were so delicious that even my boyfriend, who is not a vegetarian, couldn’t stop praising them.
There are many great restaurants not far from the hotel, such as Ambar Ubud Bar, Kaukau Restaurant, and Padi Restaurant, offering a wide variety of options. Whether you want Southeast Asian cuisine or Western food, you can find something that suits your taste. Additionally, there are many spas and yoga studios nearby, so after experiencing Ubud’s natural beauty and culture, you can enjoy a massage, which is simply wonderful.
Of course, every place has some minor flaws. When we arrived, the pool was a bit dirty, but it was quickly cleaned and fixed. Some balconies on the upper floors have low railings, which might not be very safe for families with small children, so I recommend families with kids choose rooms on the ground floor. Also, since the hotel is located in a small alley, vehicles can’t reach it directly, so those walking should be aware of this.
Overall, the Gayatri Hotel is fantastic in terms of location, service, facilities, and the overall atmosphere. If you want to stay in Ubud at a hotel that is both convenient and quiet, while experiencing traditional Balinese style, this is definitely a wonderful choice. Looking forward to coming back next time!
