Bali’s most sacred and spiritual places. Located in the lush village of Tampaksiring, this centuries-old temple is famous for its holy spring water, where locals and visitors come to take part in a traditional melukat (purification ritual).
Dressed in a sarong, I joined others in wading through the cool, clear waters, moving from spout to spout — each one said to cleanse a different part of the body and spirit. It was humbling, peaceful, and unlike anything I’ve experienced before. 🌿🙏
The temple itself is beautiful — surrounded by greenery, ancient stone carvings, and the sound of flowing water. It’s not just a tourist attraction, but a living place of worship filled with real rituals, real prayers, and real emotion.
If you’re ever in Bali and looking for something meaningful beyond the beaches and cafes, I highly recommend visiting Tirta Empul. Go with respect, an open heart, and maybe a change of clothes 😉.
