Rated as the worst Ritz-Carlton hotel overseas, should you avoid it all day long?

The latest review is about the Ritz-Carlton Bali. Online reviews of this hotel seem quite bad; many people think it’s the worst Ritz-Carlton overseas, and basically no one recommends it. This might be because the hotel is too old, not very grand, the executive lounge is often closed, and other reasons.

As for whether this is really the worst Ritz-Carlton, my personal view is that it’s actually not bad and not something to avoid. The service is stable and follows the very standardized Ritz-Carlton service philosophy.

The first impression upon arrival is that this Ritz-Carlton covers a large area. The hotel lobby has an excellent view where you can enjoy the stunning Indian Ocean scenery, giving a strong island resort vibe.

When checking in at a resort-style Ritz-Carlton, of course, you get essential oil towels and a special welcome drink.

This Ritz-Carlton, which has been open for many years, seems well maintained in my opinion. Bali is also a travel destination highly dependent on the weather; good weather and bad weather offer completely different experiences.

The Ritz-Carlton, polished by time, has a solemnity that comes after settling down.

Before going to the room, staff will drive you around the hotel in a small hotel vehicle, showing and introducing the entire property. For those who don’t like walking or are afraid of the sun, shuttle service is available and can be arranged by calling the staff from your room.

For those who enjoy walking, the hotel has a fairly large area to explore, perfect for strolling, taking photos, and sightseeing.

The building by the hotel beach is a symbol of this Ritz-Carlton. Many couples choose to hold island weddings here, which feels very ceremonial.

After touring the hotel, I found the most beautiful spot is still the hotel lobby.

I stayed in a Carlton Suite, which is 150 square meters, a super large one-bedroom suite with a huge balcony. Although the view isn’t great, comfort is not lacking.

The welcome gift was very thoughtful, giving a signature Ritz-Carlton fragrance, but the welcome cards were not as thoughtful. Although there were two welcome cards, neither was handwritten, lacking a bit of warmth.

The room overall is large and spacious, definitely appealing to families traveling with children.

The bedroom space is also very large, with a super big bed that is extremely soft, comfortable, and cozy.

The bathroom is very spacious, with double sinks and a huge bathtub. The toiletries are the current standard diptyque brand used by Ritz-Carlton.

As a resort-style Ritz-Carlton hotel, the tea bag selection in the room is a bit low-end, and I even saw instant coffee, which was unexpected. Of course, there is also capsule coffee available.

The tea cups and coffee cups are from the Japanese brand Narumi, fitting the Ritz-Carlton’s style.

This Ritz-Carlton has several restaurants. I highly recommend the seaside restaurant, The Beach Grill. The service is excellent, and the dishes are outstanding, with every dish performing at a very high standard. Marriott members do not get dining discounts but can earn points.

Downstairs from the hotel lobby is a local cuisine restaurant with a very good view.

My favorite area in the entire hotel is the spa zone, which is very tranquil. Massages need to be booked in advance.

Finally, I want to say this Ritz-Carlton is not the worst and does not need to be avoided. The environment, service, dining, and all aspects are very reliable. It’s much better than the Ritz-Carlton Koh Samui. Although Bali has many options, I want to say this one is definitely worth recommending.
