Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave Temple), located in Bedul Village (Gianyar Regency), about a 10-minute drive from Ubud, is an ancient Hindu-Buddhist ruin built around the 11th century. Its awe-inspiring atmosphere blends nature and religion.
⸻
✅ Highlights
• Cave Entrance: The impressive carving of a giant amulet face (also said to be based on Bhoma or Rangda) is a must-see. Passing through, you enter the T-shaped cave interior, where you'll find sacred statues such as Ganesha and a linga-yoni.
• Holy Water Pool and Fountain: The old bathing pool outside the cave features a fountain in the shape of a female figure, evoking a sacred atmosphere.
• Tranquility Surrounded by Nature: The lush green valley, the flowing Petanu River, and the moss-covered wet stone carvings create beautiful shadows. The mornings and evenings are especially picturesque.

💡 Tips for Visiting
• Visiting early in the morning (starts at 8:00 AM) or towards the evening allows for good light, fewer crowds, and a quieter experience.
• Admission is approximately IDR 50,000 for adults and half the price for children. A sarong (a waistband) and sash are required, and some are available for rent at the entrance.
• The footing can be slippery in some areas, so bring comfortable walking shoes.
• Due to the nature of the temple, clothing that exposes too much skin is discreet. It is recommended that shoulders and knees are covered.
